Arval a recrut\u00e9 l'une des principales dirigeantes de son plus grand concurrent europ\u00e9en, Ayvens, pour mener l'entreprise vers sa prochaine \u00e9tape. Annie Pin, actuellement directrice commerciale chez Ayvens, deviendra PDG d'Arval le 1er avril 2027, peu apr\u00e8s la finalisation de l'importante acquisition d'Athlon par la filiale de cr\u00e9dit-bail de BNP Paribas.<\/p>\n

M. Pin rejoindra Arval le 26 octobre en tant que conseiller principal de l'actuel PDG, Alain van Groenendael. Les deux hommes travailleront ensemble pendant une p\u00e9riode de transition de cinq mois, \u00e0 l'issue de laquelle M. van Groenendael deviendra pr\u00e9sident du conseil d'administration d'Arval.<\/p>\n

Ce choix est particuli\u00e8rement int\u00e9ressant car Mme Pin apporte une exp\u00e9rience acquise pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment dans le cadre de la transformation \u00e0 laquelle Arval est actuellement confront\u00e9e. Elle a en effet occup\u00e9 un poste \u00e0 responsabilit\u00e9s lors de l'int\u00e9gration d'ALD Automotive et de LeasePlan \u00e0 la suite de leur fusion au sein d'Ayvens, alors qu'Arval doit d\u00e9sormais regrouper ses activit\u00e9s avec celles d'Athlon.<\/p>\n

L'acquisition d'Athlon a permis d'ajouter plus de 400 000 v\u00e9hicules provenant de dix pays europ\u00e9ens au parc d'Arval, portant ainsi le portefeuille combin\u00e9 \u00e0 environ 2,3 millions de v\u00e9hicules.<\/p>\n

Arval d\u00e9crit la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 issue de cette fusion comme l'un des co-leaders europ\u00e9ens de la location longue dur\u00e9e avec services complets. Cette op\u00e9ration renforce notamment sa pr\u00e9sence aux Pays-Bas, en Allemagne et en France, tout en lui permettant de d\u00e9velopper ses activit\u00e9s en Belgique et sur plusieurs autres march\u00e9s europ\u00e9ens.<\/p>\n

De la gestion des risques aux v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques<\/h4>\n

Mme Pin, n\u00e9e en 1980, a d\u00e9but\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re \u00e0 la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 G\u00e9n\u00e9rale en 2004 avant de rejoindre ALD Automotive en 2010 en tant que directrice r\u00e9gionale des risques et des projets pour les pays nordiques.<\/p>\n

Elle est devenue directrice g\u00e9n\u00e9rale d\u2019ALD Norv\u00e8ge en 2016, ce qui l\u2019a plac\u00e9e au c\u0153ur de l\u2019une des transitions les plus pr\u00e9coces et les plus rapides d\u2019Europe vers les v\u00e9hicules de fonction \u00e9lectriques. En 2019, elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9e directrice commerciale d\u2019ALD et a conserv\u00e9 ce poste au sein d\u2019Ayvens apr\u00e8s le rachat de LeasePlan par ALD.<\/p>\n

Ses responsabilit\u00e9s allaient bien au-del\u00e0 des ventes. Pin a particip\u00e9 au d\u00e9veloppement d'offres dans le domaine des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques et de la mobilit\u00e9 responsable, ainsi qu'\u00e0 la gestion des relations avec la client\u00e8le internationale et des partenariats avec les constructeurs automobiles.<\/p>\n

Elle a \u00e9galement continu\u00e9 \u00e0 si\u00e9ger au comit\u00e9 ex\u00e9cutif d'Ayvens apr\u00e8s la fusion, \u00e0 une \u00e9poque o\u00f9 le groupe consacrait une grande partie de ses efforts \u00e0 mener \u00e0 bien l'int\u00e9gration d'ALD et de LeasePlan.<\/p>\n

Cette exp\u00e9rience devrait s'av\u00e9rer particuli\u00e8rement utile chez Arval. Outre l'int\u00e9gration d'Athlon, l'entreprise doit g\u00e9rer un parc de v\u00e9hicules de plus en plus \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9, avec les risques associ\u00e9s en mati\u00e8re de valeur r\u00e9siduelle, de recharge et de march\u00e9 de l'occasion des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques.<\/p>\n

Arval r\u00e9duit l'\u00e9cart avec Ayvens<\/h4>\n

La d\u00e9cision de Pin rev\u00eat \u00e9galement une dimension concurrentielle \u00e9vidente. Ayvens reste le plus grand groupe europ\u00e9en de leasing international, mais Arval conna\u00eet une croissance rapide.<\/p>\n

Lorsque Van Groenendael a pris ses fonctions de PDG d\u00e9but 2019, Arval g\u00e9rait un peu moins de 1,2 million de v\u00e9hicules en location longue dur\u00e9e. Fin 2024, ce chiffre \u00e9tait pass\u00e9 \u00e0 pr\u00e8s de 1,8 million, malgr\u00e9 la pand\u00e9mie et les p\u00e9nuries de v\u00e9hicules qui en ont d\u00e9coul\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s Athlon, Arval approche les 2,3 millions de v\u00e9hicules, ce qui r\u00e9duit consid\u00e9rablement l'\u00e9cart de taille avec Ayvens. La taille rev\u00eat une importance croissante dans le secteur de la location longue dur\u00e9e, car les grands groupes peuvent n\u00e9gocier de meilleures conditions aupr\u00e8s des constructeurs, r\u00e9partir les co\u00fbts num\u00e9riques et administratifs sur un parc plus important, et g\u00e9rer plus efficacement les risques li\u00e9s aux v\u00e9hicules d'occasion et \u00e0 la valeur r\u00e9siduelle.<\/p>\n

Cette nomination semble donc aller au-del\u00e0 d'une simple succession. Arval recrute en effet un dirigeant qui a contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation et \u00e0 l'int\u00e9gration de son principal concurrent, alors m\u00eame que l'entreprise atteint la taille n\u00e9cessaire pour le d\u00e9fier de mani\u00e8re plus agressive.<\/p>\n

Un Belge aux commandes depuis huit ans<\/h4>\n

Le Belge Alain van Groenendael est \u00e0 la t\u00eate d'Arval depuis janvier 2019. Sous sa direction, l'entreprise a \u00e9largi ses activit\u00e9s au-del\u00e0 de la location traditionnelle de v\u00e9hicules de fonction pour se lancer dans les v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques, les v\u00e9hicules connect\u00e9s et les services de mobilit\u00e9 au sens large, tout en maintenant une forte croissance organique de son parc automobile.<\/p>\n

Sa derni\u00e8re initiative majeure a \u00e9t\u00e9 l'acquisition d'Athlon. \u00c0 l'origine, BNP Paribas s'attendait \u00e0 ce qu'il quitte ses fonctions de PDG plus t\u00f4t, mais il est rest\u00e9 en poste afin de mener \u00e0 bien le cycle strat\u00e9gique actuel d'Arval et de superviser cette op\u00e9ration.<\/p>\n

Van Groenendael ne quittera donc pas l'entreprise. \u00c0 partir du mois d'avril, il deviendra pr\u00e9sident du conseil d'administration d'Arval, tandis que Pin prendra les r\u00eanes op\u00e9rationnelles et contribuera \u00e0 l'\u00e9laboration de la nouvelle strat\u00e9gie 2027-2030.
