While Mercedes-Benz had previously planned to build its own network of 10,000 fast chargers by 2030, it has now sold its network of 47 European charging hubs to Electra.<\/p>\n

The agreement with Electra was signed on August 3 for an undisclosed amount. The sale only concerns the European Mercedes-Benz charging network, not its chargers in the US and China.<\/p>\n

The sale’s effects are becoming visible. The charging stations, mostly located in Germany (31 of 47), are getting an Electra rebrand. The former European Mercedes-Benz chargers have also been added to the Electra app.<\/p>\n

With the acquisition, Electra adds to its portfolio of 800 charging parks with 5,000 charging points across ten European countries. In Germany, this means a major improvement for customers, and adding 31 charging stations to its existing network of 50 represents a 62% jump. The company aims to grow its network to 15,000 by 2030.<\/p>\n
