De negendaagse spoorwegstaking bij de Belgische openbare spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS is nog maar net voorbij en de volgende komt er alweer aan: sommige spoorwegvakbonden hebben 18 stakingsdagen aangekondigd voor de komende vijf maanden.<\/p>

De reden voor de sociale onrust bij de spoorwegmaatschappij is de nieuwe federale regering en haar hervormingsplannen. Deze omvatten het verhogen van de pensioenleeftijd - spoorwegmedewerkers kunnen nu in sommige gevallen met 55 jaar met pensioen, terwijl de gemiddelde Belgische werknemer 67 jaar is - en het doorvoeren van bezuinigingen bij de spoorwegen.<\/p>
