Revalidatieartsen van het UZ Gent willen dat een fietshelm verplicht wordt in Belgi\u00eb. Minder dan een derde van de Belgen (29%) draagt immers een fietshelm, maar van de bijna vier op de tien slachtoffers van letselongevallen met fietsen en speed pedelecs die in 2023 in een Belgisch ziekenhuis belandden, had een hoofd- of hersenletsel, waarvan de helft zelfs een schedelletsel.<\/p>

Vlaams minister van Mobiliteit Annick De Ridder (N-VA) is geen voorstander van het verplichten en richt zich in plaats daarvan op bewustmaking.<\/p>
