Ondanks tegenvallende verkopen op het oude continent blijft de Chinese premium EV-startup NIO zich inzetten voor Europa. Het opent nu een tweede offensief met zijn submerk Firefly, een meer betaalbare reeks modellen. Het begint met een compacte volledig elektrische stadsauto die in Nederland wordt gelanceerd voor \u20ac29.900. Belgi\u00eb volgt.<\/p>

De oprichter en CEO van NIO heeft in een interview gezegd dat het merk Firefly zal worden ingezet als toegangskaart tot 16 nieuwe markten. Naast Nederland zal het merk in Europa worden gelanceerd in Noorwegen, Denemarken, Portugal, Belgi\u00eb, Luxemburg, Oostenrijk en Polen, en daarnaast ook in Costa Rica, Nepal, Singapore, Uruguay, Colombia en Nieuw-Zeeland.<\/p>
