Na een aantal pijnlijke mislukkingen in het verleden waarbij men het alleen probeerde, zoals bij Volkswagen, hebben elf reuzen uit de Duitse auto-industrie ingezien dat ze hun krachten moeten bundelen bij de ontwikkeling van de software die in toenemende mate bepalend zal zijn voor de auto van de toekomst.<\/p>

Op initiatief van de Duitse Vereniging van de Automobielindustrie (VDA) hebben zij tijdens het 29e Internationale Congres voor Auto-elektronica (AEK) een intentieverklaring (MoU) ondertekend om een open-source softwarealliantie op te richten die fungeert als veilige 'middleware' tussen het besturingssysteem en de applicatielagen.<\/p>
