De nieuwe plug-in hybride SUV XC70 van Volvo Cars blijft toch niet beperkt tot China. De autofabrikant heeft bevestigd dat het langeafstandsmodel, dat oorspronkelijk werd onthuld met een focus op de Chinese markt, ook in Europa zal worden aangeboden, waardoor het een grotere rol gaat spelen binnen de wereldwijde elektrificatiestrategie van het merk.<\/p>

De XC70 blaast een van de bekendste Volvo-badges nieuw leven in, zij het niet in zijn traditionele vorm als een stoere wagon. Deze nieuwe versie is een middelgrote SUV die tussen de XC60 en XC90 in het gamma staat. Het model is gebouwd op Geely's Scalable Modular Architecture (SMA) en is specifiek ontworpen als plug-in hybride met range extender configuratie (EREV) - Volvo ziet dit als een brug voor klanten die nog niet klaar zijn om volledig elektrisch te gaan.
