Stop-starttechnologie zit al tientallen jaren in personenauto's, maar het uitschakelen van de motor is minder waardevol en handig in vrachtwagens. Volvo heeft echter een manier gevonden door het te integreren in zijn I-Roll technologie, waardoor ongeveer 1 procent brandstof wordt bespaard.<\/p>

Stop-start wordt meestal geactiveerd wanneer auto's stilstaan, bijvoorbeeld in druk verkeer of voor een rood licht. De nieuwste (mild-)hybride voertuigen schakelen de motor ook uit bij het uitrollen, of wanneer de elektromotor genoeg kracht heeft om de snelheid hoog te houden.<\/p>
