Een nieuwe studie, gefinancierd door de Europese Commissie en uitgevoerd door de Universiteit Gent, over de werkomstandigheden van piloten en cabinepersoneel bij luchtvaartmaatschappijen in de EU onthult enkele alarmerende trends die niet noodzakelijk bemoedigend zijn voor luchtvaartpassagiers.<\/p>

Hoge werkdruk, vermoeidheid, stress en gevoelens van ontmenselijking zijn aan de orde van de dag en de druk voor effici\u00ebntie en kostenbesparingen is alleen maar toegenomen, vooral bij low-cost maatschappijen. Voeg daarbij onzekere contracten of arbeidsomstandigheden en het vaak opzettelijk omzeilen van wettelijke regels over rusttijden en het wordt meteen duidelijk dat winst en niet veiligheid de hoogste prioriteit heeft.<\/p>
