De Europese Space Agency (ESA) lanceert vanaf 24 maart een nieuwe serie satellieten in de ruimte. Het doel is om een nieuwe laag van laagvliegende satellieten te cre\u00ebren die het Europese navigatiesysteem robuuster, veiliger en veerkrachtiger zal maken, ook tegen aanvallen van buitenaf.\u00a0<\/span>Maar de precisie en snelheid zouden ook moeten verbeteren, wat belangrijk is voor drones en zelfrijdende auto's.<\/span><\/p>

Galileo, het Europese navigatiesysteem dat sinds 2016 in gebruik is, bestaat momenteel uit 28 satellieten die in een baan om de aarde draaien op een hoogte van meer dan 23.000 kilometer.
