Nu, na een eerste korte rit door Brussel, begint die belofte meer betekenis te krijgen.<\/p>\n<h4>Familie EV<\/h4>\n<p>Op het eerste gezicht verraadt de nieuwe BYD Atto 3 Evo niet hoeveel er onder het oppervlak is veranderd. Geparkeerd in een Brusselse straat ziet hij eruit als een milde evolutie van de auto die een paar jaar geleden Belgische gezinnen voor zich won.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-183156\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-24.jpg?resize=640%2C427&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-24-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-24-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-24-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>De proporties zijn hetzelfde, de designtweaks zijn subtiel en ja, de speelse \u2018gitaarsnaren\u2019 in de deurpanelen zijn er nog steeds, in een minder levendige kleur (zwart in plaats van rood), klaar om geplukt te worden om je \u2018eigen\u2019 muziek te maken. Zelfs als je maar even achter het stuur zit, wordt het duidelijk: dit is geen facelift. Het is een reboot.<\/p>\n<p>De oorspronkelijke Atto 3 was een belangrijke auto voor BYD in Europa. Het was een geloofwaardige, goed uitgeruste EV voor het hele gezin tegen een concurrerende prijs. <a href=\"https:\/\/newmobility.news\/nl\/2022\/12\/09\/chinese-byd-atto-3-is-vab-electric-car-of-2023\/\">VAB's gezinsauto van het jaar 2023<\/a> prijs met input van zowel journalisten als echte gezinnen.<\/p>\n<p>Maar ondanks die erkenning brak hij nooit echt door in Belgi\u00eb of Europa. De redenen waren niet moeilijk te vinden: relatief traag opladen, een dynamiek van voorwielaandrijving die te wensen overliet en aanslepende twijfels over een toen nog onbekend Chinees merk.<\/p>\n<h4>Architectuur met 800 volt<\/h4>\n<p>De Evo pakt die tekortkomingen direct aan. Het belangrijkste is dat hij overstapt op een 800 volt architectuur, een technische sprong die hem in dezelfde competitie plaatst als de meest geavanceerde elektrische platforms op de markt.<\/p>\n<p>Oplaadsnelheden tot 220 kW beloven een veel bruikbaardere langeafstandservaring, terwijl een grotere 74,8 kWh batterij de actieradius opdrijft tot ongeveer 500 kilometer WLTP, tot 510 km voor de versie met achterwielaandrijving en ongeveer 470 km voor de versie met vierwielaandrijving.<\/p>\n<p>Dat plaatst hem in het hart van het segment: vergelijkbaar met een Volvo EX30 en slechts iets achter de versies met de langste actieradius van auto's als de Kia EV3 of Volkswagen ID.4.<\/p>\n<p>In de praktijk betekent dit dat BYD zijn rivalen niet langer achter zich laat op het gebied van actieradius, maar dit aanvult met aanzienlijk sneller opladen - een combinatie die waarschijnlijk belangrijker is bij dagelijks gebruik.<\/p>\n<h4>Standaard achterwielaandrijving<\/h4>\n<p>Net zo transformerend is de verschuiving in de aandrijffilosofie. Waar het vorige model voorwielaangedreven was en een bescheiden vermogen had, heeft de Evo standaard achterwielaandrijving, met een versie met vierwielaandrijving die prestaties levert die grenzen aan buitensporig voor een familie-SUV.<\/p>\n<p>Met maximaal 449 pk accelereert de Atto 3 Evo meer als een prestatiegerichte EV dan als een metgezel voor op school. De vraag is niet of hij snel genoeg is - dat is hij duidelijk wel - maar of zulke prestaties nodig zijn in dit segment.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"114\" data-end=\"312\">Rijdend door Brussel wordt die dualiteit duidelijk. Aan de ene kant voelt de Evo rustiger en volwassener aan dan voorheen, dankzij een betere chassisbalans en een verfijndere afstelling.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"114\" data-end=\"312\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-183154\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-4.jpg?resize=640%2C427&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-4-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-4-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-4-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"314\" data-end=\"694\">Aan de andere kant blijft het algemene karakter laagdrempelig en gemoedelijk, in lijn met de gezinsgerichte missie. Het interieur weerspiegelt die continu\u00efteit.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"314\" data-end=\"694\">Hoewel afgezwakt ten opzichte van de meer flamboyante vroege versies, behoudt het zijn kenmerkende persoonlijkheid, waarbij speelse elementen worden gecombineerd met een meer conventionele lay-out die waarschijnlijk een breder publiek zal aanspreken.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"1025\">Sommige eigenaardigheden zijn ook gerationaliseerd. Het middelste touchscreen blijft, maar de elektrisch roterende functie is weggelaten, een gimmick die maar weinig eigenaren echt gebruikten.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"1025\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-183155\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-25.jpg?resize=640%2C427&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-25-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-25-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-25-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"696\" data-end=\"1025\">Belangrijker nog is dat de praktische bruikbaarheid is verbeterd met de toevoeging van een kleine voorkoffer onder de motorkap, als aanvulling op de toch al bruikbare kofferruimte.<\/p>\n<h4>Een subtieler spel<\/h4>\n<p>Waar de Atto 3 Evo interessant wordt, is zijn prijs. In Belgi\u00eb begint het nieuwe model bij \u20ac 40.990 voor de versie met achterwielaandrijving, oplopend tot \u20ac 43.990 voor het vlaggenschip met vierwielaandrijving. Daarmee ligt hij slechts iets boven de uitgaande Atto 3, die net onder de \u20ac 39.000 begon, maar krijgt de koper er aanzienlijk meer voor terug.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-183157\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-95.jpg?resize=640%2C427&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-95-scaled.jpg?resize=1024%2C683&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-95-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/BYD-ATTO-3-EVO-95-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hier is de bredere marktcontext van belang. Het segment van compacte elektrische SUV's wordt steeds drukker, met modellen als de Volvo EX30, Kia EV3 en Volkswagen ID.4 die concurreren om particuliere kopers.<\/p>\n<p>De instapversies van deze auto's beginnen in Belgi\u00eb meestal bij \u20ac30.000 tot \u20ac40.000, afhankelijk van de grootte van de batterij en de uitrusting. In die zin onderbiedt de BYD de concurrentie niet dramatisch. In plaats daarvan speelt het een subtieler spel: het biedt meer technologie, met name zijn 800-V platform en hoge laadsnelheden, voor een vergelijkbare prijs.<\/p>\n<p>Die positionering weerspiegelt een verschuiving in het debat rond \u2018betaalbare EV's\u2019. Voor particuliere kopers gaat betaalbaarheid niet langer alleen over de instapprijs. Het gaat over gebruiksvriendelijkheid, laadsnelheid en hoe goed een auto in het dagelijkse leven past zonder compromissen.<\/p>\n<p>Veel lager geprijsde EV's vereisen nog steeds concessies op een van die gebieden. BYD's aanpak met de Atto 3 Evo suggereert dat de volgende fase van betaalbaarheid zou kunnen gaan over het leveren van meer vermogen per euro, in plaats van het simpelweg verlagen van de stickerprijs.<\/p>\n<h4>Niet de goedkoopste optie<\/h4>\n<p>In Belgi\u00eb, waar de stimulansen voor EV afnemen en particuliere kopers moeilijker te overtuigen zijn, is dat onderscheid cruciaal. De Atto 3 Evo is niet de goedkoopste optie op de markt. BYD biedt zelf kleinere modellen zoals de Dolphin ver onder de \u20ac 30.000, maar het is misschien wel een van de meer complete pakketten in zijn klasse.<\/p>\n<p>Of de Evo zijn technische voordelen zal omzetten in sterke verkoopcijfers valt nog te bezien. Merkperceptie, restwaarde en acceptatie door het wagenpark zullen een rol blijven spelen. Maar in tegenstelling tot zijn voorganger is dit niet langer een auto die vooral concurreert op waarde. Het is een auto die concurreert op inhoud.<\/p>\n<p>In die zin kan de Atto 3 Evo eindelijk de belofte inlossen die het origineel al liet doorschemeren.
