In 2025 was de waarde van auto's en auto-onderdelen die vanuit China naar de Europese Unie werden verscheept, voor het eerst hoger dan wat de EU naar China exporteerde. Voor de wereldwijde auto-industrie betekent dit een symbolisch en economisch keerpunt.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens een nieuwe analyse van adviesbureau EY is de EU-uitvoer van voertuigen en onderdelen naar China in 2025 met 34% gedaald tot \u20ac16 miljard. Sinds 2022 is die export meer dan gehalveerd.<\/p>\n<p>De Chinese import in de EU steeg daarentegen met 8% tot \u20ac22 miljard. Het resultaat: een handelsoverschot van 23 miljard euro in 2019 is omgeslagen in een tekort van 6 miljard euro in slechts zes jaar.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Het Chinese probleem van Duitsland<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>De cijfers zijn vooral opvallend voor Duitsland, van oudsher de ruggengraat van de Europese autoproductie. In 2025 zakte China van de tweede naar de zesde plaats onder Duitslands exportmarkten voor auto's en onderdelen. Deze export daalde met 33% tot \u20ac13,6 miljard, terwijl de Chinese import van auto's en onderdelen in Duitsland met twee derde toenam tot \u20ac7,4 miljard.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAls de huidige trends doorzetten, kunnen import en export al in 2026 op gelijke hoogte komen\u201d, zegt Constantin Gall, EY's automotive expert. \u201cDe concurrentie zal verder toenemen en de druk op Duitsland als knooppunt voor de auto-industrie zal blijven toenemen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Het structurele beeld is ontnuchterend omdat de Chinese stijging niet zonder gevolgen blijft. De Duitse autosector schrapte in 2025 bijna 50.000 banen, waardoor het totale personeelsbestand uitkwam op 725.000, het laagste niveau in 14 jaar. De omzet in de hele sector daalde met 1,6% tot ongeveer \u20ac528 miljard.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Maar de toeleveranciers zijn het hardst getroffen: ongeveer een op de vier banen in dat segment is sinds 2019 verdwenen, met grote bezuinigingen bij toeleveranciers als Bosch en ZF en meerdere fabriekssluitingen.<\/p>\n<h4><b>Tarieven hebben de trend niet veranderd<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>Deze ommekeer vond plaats ondanks het besluit van de EU om extra tarieven in te voeren voor in China gebouwde elektrische voertuigen. Deze maatregel was expliciet bedoeld om binnenlandse fabrikanten te beschermen. Hoewel deze belemmeringen het momentum van sommige Chinese merken op bepaalde markten hebben vertraagd, hebben ze het bredere handelstijdeffect duidelijk niet omgekeerd.<\/p>\n<p>Veel van de pijn van de Duitse industrie komt voort uit het ongelijke tempo waarin EV worden overgenomen. Zware investeringen in afwachting van een snelle groei van EV's hebben maar langzaam rendement opgeleverd, waardoor sommige fabrikanten - waaronder Porsche en Mercedes-Benz - hun strategie\u00ebn voor verbrandingsmotoren hebben herzien.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>China daarentegen is in eigen land de overgang naar EV blijven versnellen. De Chinese autofabrikanten kunnen in het buitenland steeds beter concurreren en bieden nu emissievrije technologie waar de EU naar hunkert, tegen een meer toegankelijke prijs.<\/p>\n<p>De cijfers van EY geven precies aan wat velen in de sector al aanvoelden: het machtsevenwicht in de wereldwijde autoproductie is fundamenteel aan het verschuiven.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The numbers tell a story that would have seemed impossible a decade ago.
