Hij volgt Geert Versnick op, die afgelopen november is overleden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">De Crem is sinds 2021 lid van de raad van bestuur van de hoogspanningsgroep. Hij is ook benoemd tot voorzitter van Elia Transmission Belgium, de Belgische dochteronderneming van de groep.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Elia speelt een cruciale rol in het Belgische energienet. Als beheerder van het hoogspanningsnet zorgt het voor een betrouwbare transmissie van elektriciteit over het hele land en verbindt het Belgi\u00eb met de naburige Europese markten.<\/p>\n<p>Het bedrijf speelt ook een centrale rol in de energietransitie, in de integratie van hernieuwbare energiebronnen zoals offshore-windenergie en in het behoud van de stabiliteit van het elektriciteitsnet naarmate de elektrificatie toeneemt.<\/p>\n<h4>Expertise en ervaring<\/h4>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">Een woordvoerder wijst op de expertise en ervaring van de voormalige minister en burgemeester van Aalter.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">De benoeming geldt echter maar voor \u00e9\u00e9n jaar. In 2027 moeten nieuwe mandaten worden voorgesteld.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">In maart 2025 kwam Pieter De Crem als burgemeester van Aalter onder vuur te liggen nadat was gebleken dat mensen van buitenlandse afkomst negen keer langer moesten wachten om zich in te schrijven in de gemeente dan autochtone Belgen. <\/span><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">De oppositie in Aalter sprak van een beleid van pesterijen en discriminatie van allochtonen. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">In september 2025 bevestigde Audit Vlaanderen dat het beleid onwettig en discriminerend was, waarna De Crem ontslag nam als burgemeester en schepen van de gemeente. <\/span><span class=\"Y2IQFc\" lang=\"en\">En dus duikt hij vandaag weer op als voorzitter van Elia.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pieter De Crem (CD&amp;V) was appointed chairman of high-voltage group Elia in February.
