Met retro design dat tegenwoordig erg populair is en nieuwe EU-regelgeving die kleine Europese EV's promoot, is de tijd misschien rijp voor een moderne versie van de iconische Citro\u00ebn 2CV. Er gaan geruchten dat Citro\u00ebn op de volgende Autosalon van Parijs in oktober iedereen wil verrassen met een compleet nieuwe 2CV Concept.<\/p>\n

De nieuwe CEO van Citro\u00ebn, Xavier Chardon, heeft het concept groen licht gegeven en de premi\u00e8re in oktober vastgelegd om te profiteren van nieuwe regels die momenteel door de Europese Commissie worden behandeld om elektrische stadsauto's te stimuleren.<\/p>\n

Citro\u00ebns designteam, onder leiding van de ervaren Pierre Leclercq, werkt hard aan de showauto. Het succes van de herboren Renault 5, die tot nu toe 120.000 orders heeft binnengehaald en de best verkopende elektrische auto in het segment voor de detailhandel in Europa is, illustreert de kracht van een goed uitgevoerd \u2018neo-retro\u2019-design, zoals Leclercq het zelf zegt.<\/p>\n

REVOLTe<\/h4>\n

\u201cWe hebben allemaal een poging gedaan om de 2CV te recre\u00ebren,\u201d zegt Leclercq, verwijzend naar het REVOLTe-concept uit 2009 dat werd bedacht onder voormalig Citroen designbaas Jean-Pierre Plou\u00e9. \u201cHet was een moderne interpretatie van een 2CV, en het was supercool. Je kunt niet zeggen dat het iets is wat je niet gaat proberen, net zoals we kleine H-types of soortgelijke dingen hebben geprobeerd. Die projecten hebben we geprobeerd.\u201d<\/p>\n

De REVOLTe was een nogal luxueus PHEV-concept in plaats van een basispoging \/Citro\u00ebn<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

De REVOLTe was een plug-in hybride op basis van een ingekorte Citro\u00ebn DS3, die refereerde aan de 2CV met zijn \u2018oog\u2019-koplampen, grille en overdreven spatborden. Maar het was geen parodie op het origineel en dat is de benadering die Leclercq voorstaat, waarbij hij de primaire kwaliteiten van de 2CV - betaalbaarheid, ruimte, comfort en brandstofeffici\u00ebntie - in een modern jasje steekt.<\/p>\n

\u201cAls je denkt aan een 2CV, een goedkope auto voor dorpen, is het zo belangrijk om de filosofie en waarden te behouden. Als je die kunt herinterpreteren in een auto van vandaag, laten we dat dan doen,\u201d voegt Leclercq eraan toe.<\/p>\n

Segment kleine auto's<\/h4>\n

Maar terwijl de nieuwe Renault 5 het commerci\u00eble paradepaardje is, zal het concept van de nieuwe 2CV qua afmetingen en prijs dichter in de buurt komen van Renaults 3,8 meter lange Twingo. Deze staat op een verkorte, vereenvoudigde versie van het platform van de 5, genaamd RGEV Small.<\/p>\n

Stellantis Group, waar Citro\u00ebn deel van uitmaakt, heeft zijn eigen voordelige platformarchitectuur, \u2018Smart Car\u2019 genaamd, waarop de nieuwe C3, C3 Aircross en Fiat Grande Panda zijn gebaseerd, met een keuze tussen verbrandings- en elektrische aandrijving.<\/p>\n

De ingenieurs van Citro\u00ebn hebben onderzocht of het platform flexibel en rendabel genoeg is voor een stadsauto die tussen de C3 en de Ami-vierwieler in zou passen. Een van de overwegingen is of de structuur sterk genoeg is om een rollback canvas dak te dragen, zoals het origineel, of dat het gewoon een grijs dak van koolstof of versterkt plastic zal voorstellen.<\/p>\n

Betaalbaar, klein en Europees<\/h4>\n

Kan de Twingo van Renault als benchmark worden gebruikt? Deze heeft een 27,5 kWh lithium-ijzerfosfaatbatterij (LFP), die een actieradius van 260 km biedt, en een aangepaste elektromotor met 59 kW\/80 pk en een koppel van 175 Nm. Hij zal ook aan de basis liggen van Dacia's aanstaande EV uit het A-segment en een broer van Nissan.<\/p>\n

Stellantis zal proberen zijn A-segment platform in te zetten voor meerdere merken, met Fiat als een van de belangrijkste kandidaten gezien zijn erfgoed op het gebied van kleine auto's. De \u2018neo-retro\u2019 2CV zal moeten voldoen aan de opkomende \u2018M1E\u2019-categorie van de Europese Commissie. De regelgeving wordt nog uitgewerkt, maar auto's moeten minder dan 4,2 meter lang zijn en geassembleerd worden binnen de EU.<\/p>\n

Individuele landen krijgen de ruimte om de batterijproductie binnen het economische blok financieel te ondersteunen en Stellantis heeft al een Spaanse joint venture van 4,1 miljard euro aangekondigd met de Chinese batterijfabrikant CATL. De gigafabriek in Zaragoza moet eind 2026 packs produceren.<\/p>\n

De Commissie wil de levering van betaalbare EV's van eigen bodem versnellen en de leegte onder de \u20ac25.000 v\u00f3\u00f3r subsidies opvullen. Ervan uitgaande dat de EU uitspraak doet tegen het einde van dit jaar, zou Citro\u00ebn ernaar streven om de productieversie van de 2CV EV klaar te hebben in 2029.<\/p>\n

Eerdere pogingen<\/h4>\n

Citro\u00ebn zelf heeft al verschillende keren geprobeerd een moderne opvolger te vinden voor zijn iconische auto, van de C3 Pluriel tot de REVOLTe Concept. Die laatste leidde uiteindelijk niet tot een nieuwe 2CV, maar vormde wel de inspiratie voor de Citro\u00ebn DS 3.<\/p>\n

Andere merken die een soortgelijke no-nonsense auto probeerden te maken waren Mazda, wiens 121 \u2018bolhoed\u2019 in zijn tijd (1991-1996) redelijk populair was, niet zozeer om zijn technische dapperheid maar om zijn sympathieke uiterlijk.<\/p>\n

Het dichtst bij het origineel (tot nu toe) kwam Chrysler met zijn CCV-concept (Composite Concept Vehicle, 1997). Chrysler zag zijn rudimentaire CCV als d\u00e9 auto voor opkomende landen en continenten, maar hij kwam nooit van de grond. In die tijd gaven mensen in ontwikkelingslanden die op zoek waren naar een relatief betaalbare auto de voorkeur aan een derde- of vierdehands Peugeot 504\/505 of Mercedes 190\/E-Klasse om mensen en goederen over slechte wegen te vervoeren.<\/p>\n
