Twee jaar na het faillissement van busfabrikant Van Hool zijn drie op vier werknemers weer aan het werk. Dat blijkt uit cijfers van Vlaams minister van Werkgelegenheid Zuhal Demir.<\/p>\n

Volgens de N-VA minister tonen de cijfers aan dat gerichte begeleiding, outplacement en opleiding via VDAB, een Vlaamse overheidsinstelling die vraag en aanbod op de arbeidsmarkt op elkaar afstemt, een aanzienlijk verschil maken.<\/p>\n

Indrukwekkend succes<\/h4>\n

Twee jaar geleden sloot de iconische busfabrikant in Koningshooikt bij Lier zijn deuren. De impact was groot: 2.404 mensen verloren hun baan. Meer dan de helft van de werknemers was ouder dan 45, en 266 waren er ouder dan 60.<\/p>\n

Toch zijn veel voormalige werknemers er ondanks hun lange loopbaan in geslaagd een nieuwe baan te vinden. Vandaag zijn 1.793 voormalige werknemers terug aan het werk. Slechts 1 op 10 is nog op zoek naar werk en wordt actief begeleid door de VDAB. De overige ex-werknemers van Van Hool zijn niet meer actief op de arbeidsmarkt, voornamelijk door ziekte of pensionering.<\/p>\n

Er hangt echter een prijskaartje aan: Europa investeerde 8 miljoen euro in begeleiding, opleiding en ondersteuning en ook de VDAB droeg meer dan 1 miljoen euro bij.<\/p>\n

\u2018Bemoedigende cijfers\u2019<\/h4>\n

\u201cDe cijfers twee jaar na de sluiting van Van Hool zijn bemoedigend\u201d, zegt Vlaams minister van Werkgelegenheid Zuhal Demir. \u201cHet belangrijkste is om mensen snel te bereiken en niet los te laten. Een ontslag heeft een zware impact op mensen, maar ook op hun naaste familieleden.\u201d<\/p>\n

De minister verwijst ook naar de intensieve ondersteuning door VDAB. \u201cHet feit dat VDAB snel en creatief heeft gehandeld, draagt bij tot deze positieve cijfers\u201d, merkt ze op. Zo opende VDAB drie tijdelijke locaties in de buurt van Van Hool waar getroffen werknemers dicht bij huis terecht konden voor informatie en begeleiding.<\/p>\n

VDAB organiseerde ook de grootste jobbeurs van Vlaanderen, in samenwerking met verschillende partners, met meer dan 250 bedrijven in de Nekkerhal in Mechelen.<\/p>\n

VDAB-woordvoerder Bjorn Cuyt wijst op een bredere verklaring voor het succes in hertewerkstelling. Hij schrijft de resultaten bij Voka, het Vlaamse netwerk van bedrijven, toe aan drie factoren: de veerkracht van de werknemers zelf, de gezondheid van de regionale arbeidsmarkt (op het moment van het faillissement waren er 500 jobs beschikbaar voor technici of onderhoudsmonteurs) en de snelheid waarmee sommige bedrijven zich aanpasten, deels via Voka.<\/p>\n

Voka Mechelen-Kempen focust momenteel ook op de herontwikkeling van een deel van de beschikbare Van Hool-site. Het risico bestaat dat de site wordt opgesplitst in vele kleine percelen, terwijl Voka ervoor pleit om de site toe te wijzen aan de industrie, mede omdat ondertussen meer bedrijven in de regio in de gevarenzone terecht zijn gekomen - naast alle ontslagen bij Van Hool zelf, stonden ook bij de toeleveranciers van Van Hool tot 973 jobs op de tocht.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
