De Hyundai Boulder Concept is een voorproefje van een stoere body-on-frame SUV. Het is een voorproefje van een hele modellijn van pick-ups en SUV's die in Amerika zijn ontworpen, voor Amerika zijn ontwikkeld en in Amerika zijn gebouwd met Amerikaans staal van Hyundai. Het eerste model wordt verwacht in 2030.<\/p>\n

Hyundai wil Amerikaanse klanten aantrekken met producten die speciaal voor hen zijn gemaakt. En zoals Volkswagen doet het met Scout<\/a>, wil de Zuid-Koreaanse fabrikant een avontuurlijke geest oproepen met een geheel nieuwe lijn van stoere body-on-frame voertuigen. De Boulder Concept is een voorproefje van een SUV, maar een pick-uptruck wordt verwacht als eerste model in 2030.<\/p>\n

Klassiek off-roader uiterlijk<\/h4>\n

De Hyundai Boulder Concept kan worden gezien als een evolutie van het kraterconcept dat vorig jaar werd getoond<\/a>. Hij is ontworpen door hetzelfde Californische team van Hyundai Design North America, maar in tegenstelling tot het futuristische concept uit 2025 lijkt de Boulder meer op de terreinauto's die we vandaag de dag kennen. Er zijn duidelijke overeenkomsten met onder andere de Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes G-Klasse en Toyota Land Cruiser.<\/p>\n

Maar nog belangrijker is dat de Hyundai Boulder Concept een volledig Amerikaans product is. Hij is ontworpen in Amerika en is een voorproefje van productiemodellen die zullen worden ontwikkeld, gebouwd en gesmeed in Amerika, met gebruik van door Hyundai geproduceerd Amerikaans staal.<\/p>\n

Nieuwe body-on-frame pick-up komt tegen 2030<\/h4>\n

Het eerste productiemodel zal een middelgrote pick-uptruck zijn die in 2030 op de markt komt. Dit is nog steeds het populairste voertuigsegment in de VS, dus het is logisch dat Hyundai zich als eerste op deze markt richt. Maar de fabrikant heeft nog niet onthuld wat voor aandrijflijn deze pick-up zal gebruiken, noch wat de Boulder Concept aandrijft.<\/p>\n

Aangezien de Amerikaanse markt (en overheid) EV's afwijst, is een verbrandingsmotor waarschijnlijk, maar enige elektrificatie is waarschijnlijk ook onvermijdelijk.
