Volgens spoorweginfrastructuurbeheerder Infrabel waren deze personen verantwoordelijk voor 4,5 uur vertraging per dag.<\/p>\n<p>Spoorinbrekers veroorzaken aanzienlijke vertragingen, vooral tijdens de avondspits en op de drukke Noord-Zuidlijn in Brussel. Infrabel berekende dat zonder spoorinbrekers de stiptheid met 0,3 procentpunten zou verbeteren - spoorinbraak is de belangrijkste externe oorzaak van treinvertragingen.<\/p>\n<p>Bovendien kwamen in 2025 negen mensen om het leven toen ze zich op het spoor begaven en raakten drie anderen ernstig gewond.<\/p>\n<h4>Snelkoppeling naar een ander platform<\/h4>\n<p>Infrabel heeft 102 hotspots ge\u00efdentificeerd, locaties waar veelvuldig wordt overreden op de sporen, en 58 stations waar vaker wordt overreden. Opvallend is echter dat dit fenomeen zich steeds vaker voordoet in de stations zelf.<\/p>\n<p>Op lange termijn is er een dalende trend: in 2024 werden 646 meldingen geregistreerd, maar Brussel is een uitzondering. Op de drukke noord-zuidlijn in de hoofdstad werden vorig jaar 55 gevallen geregistreerd. Alleen al in Brussel-Noord werden vorig jaar 19 meldingen van braak geregistreerd. Er waren 18 meldingen in Brussel-Zuid en 15 in Brussel-Centraal.<\/p>\n<p>Toch zijn deze cijfers niet uitzonderlijk, want bijna de helft van alle meldingen van spoortredingen in Belgi\u00eb gebeurt op of nabij stations, vaak door mensen die een kortere weg zoeken naar een ander perron.<\/p>\n<h4>Nieuw proefproject in Brussel-Noord<\/h4>\n<p>Daarom heeft Infrabel een nieuwe maatregel voorgesteld in het station Brussel-Noord. Het gaat om zowel een fysieke als een virtuele barri\u00e8re die moet verhinderen dat mensen de sporen betreden en die tegelijkertijd de detectie van overtreders moet versnellen.<\/p>\n<p>Het proefproject wordt uitgevoerd op sporen 1 en 12 en op het perron tussen sporen 8 en 9, dat langer is dan de andere sporen. Enerzijds zijn er slagbomen en struikelmatten ge\u00efnstalleerd, anderzijds stuurt een virtuele slagboom met camera's met inbraakdetectie automatisch een alarm naar een NMBS-controlekamer. De grootste groep bestaat uit kortparkeerders, reizigers die bijvoorbeeld aan het einde van het perron de sporen oversteken om sneller een andere trein of de parking te bereiken, of buurtbewoners die al jaren via een kortere weg de sporen oversteken omdat dit de snelste weg is naar hun bestemming.<\/p>\n<p>Dan zijn er nog de adrenalinezoekers en creatievelingen, zoals jongeren voor wie de sensatie van het verbodene een rol speelt, of fotografen en graffitikunstenaars die spoorwegemplacementen, rangeerterreinen en oude tunnels aantrekkelijk vinden vanwege hun rauwe, industri\u00eble esthetiek.<\/p>\n<p>En tot slot is er de groep mensen die door verstrooidheid of afleiding onbedoeld op het spoor belandt.<\/p>\n<h4>Een boete van maximaal \u20ac300 of zelfs \u20ac500<\/h4>\n<p>Spoorwegongelukken zijn een wijdverspreid Europees probleem: ongeveer 65% van alle dodelijke ongevallen op Europese spoorwegen, zelfmoorden niet meegerekend, zijn het gevolg van onbevoegden op het spoor.<\/p>\n<p>Landen met een zeer dicht spoorwegnet, zoals Belgi\u00eb, Nederland en Duitsland, ontvangen verhoudingsgewijs meer meldingen dan grotere landen zoals Frankrijk of Spanje.<\/p>\n<p>In Belgi\u00eb kunnen overtreders die op heterdaad betrapt worden of zich ophouden in delen van de spoorweginfrastructuur die niet toegankelijk zijn voor het publiek, een boete krijgen van maximaal \u20ac 300 volgens de spoorwegpolitiewet, en zelfs \u20ac 500 voor herhaalde overtredingen.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Last year, there were 583 reports of people walking on or along the railway tracks in Belgium.
