In plaats daarvan zou zijn bedrijf zich richten op de geautomatiseerde Cybercab en het winstmodel erachter.<\/p>\n<p>Maar de vastberadenheid van Musk is niet zijn grootste kwaliteit. Reuters heeft gemeld dat Tesla terugkomt op die strategie en terugkomt op de ontwikkeling van een instapmodel onder de Model 3.<\/p>\n<h4>Van Shanghai<\/h4>\n<p>Reuters verzamelde de informatie van vier mensen die bekend zijn met de zaak. Deze vertelden het agentschap dat Tesla werkt aan een geheel nieuwe compacte elektrische SUV, die kleiner en goedkoper is dan alles in zijn huidige line-up. Om de kosten te drukken, zal deze worden geproduceerd in de fabriek in Shanghai. Tesla zelf heeft niet gereageerd toen om commentaar werd gevraagd.<\/p>\n<p>Wat de details betreft, deelden de bronnen dat de auto 4,2 meter lang zou worden, aanzienlijk korter dan de 4,7 meter van de Model Y, en zo'n 500 kilogram zou afvallen. Om de auto betaalbaar te houden, zou Tesla de auto uitrusten met een kleiner accupakket, een enkele motor en een kleinere actieradius.<\/p>\n<h4>Hulpbronnen omleiden<\/h4>\n<p>De productie blijft naar verluidt niet beperkt tot Shanghai. De ambities zijn om in een latere fase de productie uit te breiden naar de Verenigde Staten en Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Het project bevindt zich echter nog in een vroeg ontwikkelingsstadium. Geautomatiseerd rijden is een actieve functie, waarbij een bron opmerkte dat de auto is bedoeld als \u201cbestuurderloos, maar met een menselijke optie\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Oorspronkelijk werd de lang beloofde goedkope auto van Tesla (codenaam NV9 en algemeen aangeduid als Model 2) geannuleerd ten gunste van het Robotaxi-programma. Musk stelde expliciet dat de toekomst van persoonlijk vervoer lag in autonomie, niet in goedkope auto's voor menselijke bestuurders.<\/p>\n<h4>Interne onenigheid<\/h4>\n<p>Wat volgde was een ongewoon openbaar intern meningsverschil. Electrek meldde dat Musk een analyse had laten vallen die was opgesteld door de hoofden van Tesla's voertuigprogramma's, engineering, bedrijfsontwikkeling en ontwerpteams. Deze analyse concludeerde dat de Robotaxi geld zou verliezen en dat de betaalbare EV prioriteit moest krijgen. Musk overrulede hen.<\/p>\n<p>Vervolgens werd het betaalbare EV-programma vervangen door uitgeklede varianten van de bestaande Model 3 en Model Y, de Standard-modellen. Deze waren ver verwijderd van de $25.000-doelstelling die het Model 2-programma oorspronkelijk aantrekkelijk had gemaakt. Maar het werkte. Na een sterke daling stijgt de verkoop van Tesla's weer in heel Europa.<\/p>\n<h4>Concurrentiestrijd<\/h4>\n<p>Maar hoewel Tesla zich herstelt van zijn blauwe plekken, blijft zijn positie kwetsbaar. Concurrenten hebben niet stilgezeten. BYD en Leapmotor bieden EV's aan in de prijsklasse van \u20ac20.000 tot \u20ac28.000 in China en Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Ze volgen dit voorbeeld met nieuwe, toegankelijke modellen zoals de Renault Twingo E-Tech en de VW ID. 3, evenals zustermodellen als de Cupra Raval en de Skoda Epiq.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>Ondertussen rijdt Robotaxi in Austin, dat vorig jaar met veel tamtam werd gelanceerd, nog steeds met slechts een handvol voertuigen in een beperkte geofence.<\/p>\n<p>Als het rapport van Reuters klopt - en vergeet niet dat dit hetzelfde bureau is dat door Musk werd beschuldigd van liegen over de annulering van de Model 2, maar correct bleek te zijn - dan komt Tesla stilletjes terug op een van zijn meest verwachte productlanceringen.<\/p>\n<p>De vraag is nu of Tesla nog steeds kan concurreren op dat prijspunt in 2027 of 2028, wanneer dit voertuig er realistisch gezien zou kunnen zijn.
