Het panoramische Hyperscreen, de gladde Cd 0,20 carrosserie en de toonaangevende actieradius zorgden voor een aantrekkelijk pakket. Maar het EV-landschap ontwikkelt zich razendsnel. Daarom reageert Mercedes met een grondige technische revisie die het vlaggenschip, de EQS, terug aan de top plaatst.<\/p>\n<p>De belangrijkste upgrade bevindt zich onder de vloer. Het herziene EVA2-platform werkt nu op 800 volt, in plaats van 400 volt, waardoor de piekcapaciteit voor gelijkstroom opladen nu 350 kW bedraagt. Dat komt neer op ongeveer 320 WLTP-kilometers in slechts tien minuten aan een compatibele snellader.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Hernieuwde afstandsoorlog<\/h4>\n<p>Bij conventionele 400 V-stations wordt het accupakket in twee helften gesplitst en opgeladen met maximaal 175 kW. Dit is een elegante technische oplossing die ervoor zorgt dat de EQS in grote lijnen bruikbaar blijft in de nog steeds gemengde laadinfrastructuur van Europa. Bidirectioneel opladen via V2H en V2G is standaard in het hele gamma.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-184526\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_004-scaled.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_004-scaled.jpg?w=2560&amp;ssl=1 2560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_004-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_004-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>De batterij zelf groeit bescheiden, van 118 kWh naar 122 kWh bruikbare capaciteit. De echte winst zit binnenin de cellen: anodes gemengd met siliciumoxide verbeteren de energiedichtheid zonder bulk toe te voegen.<\/p>\n<p>In combinatie met een nieuwe achterversnellingsbak met twee versnellingen (de eerste versnelling dient om vlot te accelereren, de tweede om zuinig te rijden op de snelweg) resulteert dit in een WLTP actieradius van 925 kilometer voor de achterwielaangedreven EQS 450+.<\/p>\n<p>Dat is een verbetering van 13 procent (818 kilometer) ten opzichte van zijn voorganger en momenteel het hoogste offici\u00eble actieradiuscijfer van alle EV-productievoertuigen op de Europese markt.<\/p>\n<h4>Nieuw instapmodel<\/h4>\n<p>Kopers met vierwielaandrijving kunnen kiezen voor de EQS 500 4Matic of EQS 580 4Matic, beide uitgerust met het 122 kWh accupakket en goed voor 876 WLTP-kilometers. De 580 4Matic zet 430 kW in en legt de sprint van 0-100 km\/u af in 4,1 seconden.<\/p>\n<p>Een nieuw instapmodel, de EQS 400, uitgerust met een 112 kWh batterij en een 270 kW motor, rondt het gamma af onder de 450+.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"> Hij haalt nog steeds 817 kilometer met \u00e9\u00e9n lading.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-184527\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_006-scaled.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_006-scaled.jpg?w=2560&amp;ssl=1 2560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_006-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_006-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Omdat de regeneratieve remcapaciteit is gestegen tot 385 kW (een toename van 33 procent), claimt Mercedes dat het systeem nu 99 procent van alle remsituaties aankan zonder de schijfremmen aan te raken.<\/p>\n<h4>Het stuurwiel draait de wielen niet meer<\/h4>\n<p>De meest gedurfde innovatie is optioneel, maar structureel van belang. De opgefriste EQS is verkrijgbaar met steer-by-wire, waarmee Mercedes de eerste Duitse fabrikant is die deze technologie in een serieproductieauto aanbiedt.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dit betekent dat de mechanische verbinding tussen het stuurwiel en de vooras volledig is verdwenen en vervangen door twee digitale signaalpaden. Het resultaat is een stuur in de vorm van een juk met een verhouding van 4:1 bij lage snelheden, vergeleken met de conventionele 14:1, wat betekent dat een volledige U-bocht geen hand-over-hand verplaatsing vereist.<\/p>\n<p>De stuurhoek van de achteras neemt tegelijkertijd toe van 4,5 tot 10 graden, wat de draaicirkel aanzienlijk verkleint ondanks de aanzienlijke voetafdruk van de EQS.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-184528\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_005-scaled.jpg?resize=640%2C360&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_005-scaled.jpg?w=2560&amp;ssl=1 2560w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_005-scaled.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/newmobility.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/26C0110_005-scaled.jpg?w=1920&amp;ssl=1 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Bestuurders die de voorkeur geven aan een traditioneel gevoel kunnen nog steeds conventionele elektromechanische besturing bestellen, of alleen kiezen voor de 10 graden achterstuurinrichting, zonder het steer-by-wire systeem. Met andere woorden, de keuze van de klant is nog steeds een essentieel onderdeel van het pakket.<\/p>\n<p><b>AI aan boord<\/b><\/p>\n<p>De opgefriste EQS is ook de eerste Mercedes die volledig is uitgerust met het nieuwe MB.OS besturingssysteem. Dit gecentraliseerde softwareplatform regelt bijna elke functie van de auto en ondersteunt draadloze updates gedurende de hele levensduur van de auto.<\/p>\n<p>Het MBUX Hyperscreen draait nu op MB.OS met een aanzienlijk capabelere AI-assistent die ChatGPT, Microsoft Bing en Google Gemini integreert voor conversatievragen in meerdere stappen.<\/p>\n<p>Wat het uiterlijk betreft, blijft het een glazen behuizing met een 12,3-inch display voor de bestuurder, een 17,7-inch centraal touchscreen en een 12,3-inch scherm voor de passagier. Google Maps gebruikt 3D-mapping voor navigatie. Voor route- en oplaadberekeningen wordt rekening gehouden met wind, hoogte, verkeer en gegevens van oplaadpunten.<\/p>\n<p>Net als op de S-Klasse en GLS beschikt de Airmatic luchtvering nu over cloud-gebaseerde demperregeling. Via Car-to-X-communicatie met andere Mercedessen \u2018downloadt\u2019 de EQS verkeersdrempels of kuilen voordat de wielen aankomen en past de dempers daarop aan.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Zevenentwintig sensoren voeden het pakket hulpsystemen voor de bestuurder. Automatisch inparkeren werkt nu tot 5 km\/u - twee keer de vorige snelheid - en diagonale parkeerplaatsen worden nu ondersteund.<\/p>\n<p><b>Veiligheidsgordel opwarmen<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Het meest charmante detail van het interieur is ook ontleend aan de nieuwe S-Klasse: verwarmde veiligheidsgordels, met fijne metalen draden die de gordelband verwarmen tot 44 graden Celsius, wat een overtuigend argument is tegen dikke winterjassen op koude ochtenden.<\/p>\n<p>Uiterlijk is het herontwerp discutabel. De nieuwe voorbumper heeft een grille die vreemd genoeg knipoogt naar verbrandingsmotortechnologie. En aan de achterkant overspant een spiraalvormig LED-element de volledige breedte, alsof een driejarige kleuter het patroon heeft gekrabbeld. Het zou de indrukwekkende technologie die het herbergt niet moeten verbergen.<\/p>\n<p>Het Digital Light systeem verbetert het gezichtsveld met 40 procent en verlaagt het energieverbruik met 50 procent.
