Volgens de ngo Transport & Environment (T&E) zouden de recente eisen van de Europese auto-industrie om de klimaatdoelstellingen af te zwakken kunnen leiden tot \u20ac 74 miljard aan extra olie-import, \"net nu de belangstelling voor de aankoop van elektrische auto\u2019s nieuwe hoogten bereikt\". Dat blijkt uit een analyse van T&E van een uitgelekt standpunt<\/a> uitgegeven door de Association of European Car Manufacturers (ACEA) aan de milieuministers in maart.<\/p>

T&E zegt dat het onverantwoorde voorstel de uitrol van meer betaalbare EV-modellen zou vertragen in een tijd van hoge benzineprijzen en de afhankelijkheid van olie drastisch zou vergroten, vergeleken met de huidige CO2-doelstellingen voor auto's in de EU.<\/p>
