Dit is een belangrijke stap in zijn lang geplande intrede in wat het bedrijf de \u201cmeest veeleisende automarkt ter wereld\u201d noemt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De compacte EV, ontworpen in Milaan en geassembleerd in de fabriek van Magna Steyr in Graz, Oostenrijk, wordt gepositioneerd als een betaalbaar, ruim alternatief voor gevestigde spelers zoals de Volkswagen ID.3 en MG4.<\/p>\n<h4>Startprijs van \u20ac 27.990<\/h4>\n<p>Met een vanafprijs van \u20ac 27.990 onderbiedt de AION UT meteen een groot deel van de Europese concurrentie op het gebied van EV's uit het C-segment. De AION UT combineert een 60 kWh LFP batterij met een WLTP actieradius tot 430 km, waarmee hij tot de mainstream van het segment behoort. Binnenin heeft de AION UT een minimalistische, schermgedomineerde lay-out met een centraal 14,6-inch display en digitale instrumenten, wat de huidige trends in EV-design weerspiegelt.<\/p>\n<h4>EU-tarieven vermijden<\/h4>\n<p>De productie in Oostenrijk is een belangrijk onderdeel van GAC's Europese strategie. Door het voertuig lokaal te assembleren met partner Magna Steyr, verkort het bedrijf niet alleen de toeleveringsketen, maar vermijdt het ook EU-tarieven op in China gebouwde EV's, die de importkosten met 20 tot meer dan 40 procent kunnen verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>De stap bouwt voort op een eerdere stap: sinds eind 2025 heeft GAC al <a href=\"https:\/\/newmobility.news\/nl\/2025\/11\/25\/gac-taps-magna-steyr-in-austria-for-aion-v-production\/\">het produceren van zijn <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Aion V<\/span><\/span> elektrische SUV<\/a> in dezelfde fabriek in Graz, wat het begin markeert van lokale productie in Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Ondanks deze kwalificaties betreedt de AION UT een van de meest concurrerende segmenten op de Europese markt. Zijn grootste rivalen zijn de Volkswagen ID.3, de MG4 Electric en de BYD Dolphin, die allemaal al een gevestigde naam zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Vergeleken met deze modellen biedt de AION UT veel binnenruimte en een agressieve prijs, maar hij blijft achter op het gebied van laadprestaties, met een piek DC-snelheid van ongeveer 87 kW, onder het niveau dat nu door verschillende concurrenten wordt aangeboden.<\/p>\n<h4>Goedkopere Europese EV's<\/h4>\n<p>Bovendien zal de concurrentie verder toenemen met de komst van nieuwe, goedkopere Europese EV's. Om maar een voorbeeld te noemen: modellen zoals de Renault 5 E-Tech Electric, de Renault 4 en de volgende generatie van de Twingo zijn erop gericht om de prijzen dichter bij de \u20ac20.000-\u20ac25.000 te brengen, gebruikmakend van een sterke merkbekendheid en lokale productie. Dit legt extra druk op nieuwkomers zoals GAC, die niet alleen moeten concurreren op prijs en specificaties, maar ook op vertrouwen en merkbekendheid.<\/p>\n<p>Die uitdaging is vooral duidelijk op markten zoals Belgi\u00eb. Terwijl GAC een gefaseerde uitrol plant in landen als Finland, Griekenland en Polen, is er nog geen bevestigde tijdslijn voor Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n<p>De markt wordt sterk gedomineerd door fleet- en leaseklanten, waar gevestigde merken, doorverkoopwaarden en servicenetwerken doorslaggevende factoren blijven. Voor een relatief onbekend merk als AION zal het opbouwen van geloofwaardigheid tijd kosten.<\/p>\n<h4>Grotendeels onbekend in Europa<\/h4>\n<p>GAC erkent deze hindernis zelf ook. Hoewel grotendeels onbekend in Europa, is GAC een van China's grootste autofabrikanten, met een jaarlijkse verkoop van ongeveer 2,5 miljoen voertuigen, grotendeels dankzij joint ventures met Toyota en Honda.<\/p>\n<p>Het heeft zijn Europese toetreding bewust uitgesteld om de misstappen van eerdere toetreders te vermijden. De AION UT is bedoeld als strategisch instapmodel, waarbij concurrerende prijzen worden gecombineerd met lokale productie en een focus op kwaliteit en betrouwbaarheid.<\/p>\n<p>Of die aanpak zal slagen, valt nog te bezien. De AION UT laat zien dat Chinese fabrikanten niet langer alleen vertrouwen op goedkope exportproducten, maar zich steeds meer inbedden in het industri\u00eble ecosysteem van Europa.<\/p>\n<p>Maar in een markt waar merkperceptie, oplaadprestaties en ondersteuning na verkoop net zo belangrijk zijn als specificaties, is er meer nodig dan een goed geprijsd product om door te
