Bijna drie op vier Waalse bestuurders (72%) geven toe dat ze hun voertuig wel eens parkeren op een manier die hinder veroorzaakt. Dat blijkt uit een studie van het Waals Agentschap voor Verkeersveiligheid (AWSR).<\/p>\n

De meest voorkomende situaties zijn parkeren te dicht bij een oversteekplaats, op een stoep of dubbel parkeren. Het AWSR wijst erop dat een auto die \u201cmaar even\u201d geparkeerd staat een kettingreactie van gevaarlijke situaties in gang kan zetten.<\/p>\n

Geen schaamte<\/h4>\n

Uit de AWSR-enqu\u00eate blijkt dat bijna een op de twee automobilisten (45%) toegeeft wel eens te dicht bij een zebrapad te parkeren en een op de tien (10%) geeft zelfs aan wel eens op het zebrapad zelf te parkeren.<\/p>\n

Meer dan \u00e9\u00e9n op drie respondenten, of 36%, zegt ook wel eens op de stoep te parkeren. Dubbel parkeren komt ook vaak voor: meer dan een op de vier respondenten (28%) heeft het wel eens gedaan.<\/p>\n

Ten slotte geeft bijna \u00e9\u00e9n op vier Waalse bestuurders (22%) toe minstens \u00e9\u00e9n keer te hebben gestopt op een fietswachtstrook, en meer dan \u00e9\u00e9n op tien (13%) op een fietspad.<\/p>\n

De impact onderschatten<\/h4>\n

AWSR wijst erop dat het echter verboden is om op een trottoir te parkeren of zelfs maar te stoppen - al is het maar voor een paar minuten - tenzij dit specifiek wordt aangegeven door bewegwijzering. De AWSR merkt ook op dat veel bestuurders de impact van hun foutieve parkeergewoonten ernstig onderschatten.<\/p>\n

Naast het ernstig verstoren van de verkeersdoorstroming, verhoogt dubbel parkeren of parkeren op een trottoir of fietspad het risico op ongevallen door andere weggebruikers op de rijbaan te dwingen of tot gevaarlijke manoeuvres.<\/p>\n

Boetes<\/h4>\n

Om de gevaren van deze praktijk onder de aandacht te brengen, heeft AWSR een bewustmakingscampagne gelanceerd. Het doel is om de nadruk te leggen op de geldende regels en het belang ervan voor de bescherming van weggebruikers, met name mensen met beperkte mobiliteit, voetgangers en fietsers.<\/p>\n

In 2024 werden in Walloni\u00eb 7.606 bonnen uitgeschreven voor parkeren op een voetpad, de meest voorkomende overtreding. Dit werd gevolgd door parkeren in een verboden zone ondanks een verkeersbord (6.890) en parkeren op een plaats voorbehouden voor personen met beperkte mobiliteit (1.939).<\/p>\n
