KLM schrapt de komende maand 160 vluchten van en naar Schiphol. SAS Scandinavia schrapt minstens 1.000 vluchten uit haar dienstregeling. Dit zijn slechts een paar voorbeelden van Europese luchtvaartmaatschappijen die nu al vluchten schrappen vanwege hogere kosten en zorgen over de levering van kerosine, temidden van een blokkade van de Straat van Hormuz die de crisis verlengt.<\/p>\n

Het hoofd van het Internationaal Energieagentschap, Fatih Birol, waarschuwde ook dat Europa misschien nog maar voor zes weken vliegtuigbrandstof heeft. \u2019We zullen binnenkort het nieuws horen dat sommige vluchten van stad A naar stad B worden geannuleerd vanwege een tekort aan kerosine,\u201c zei hij.<\/p>\n

En Willie Walsh, CEO van de International Air Transport Association (IATA), schat ook dat Europa eind mei te maken kan krijgen met annuleringen van vluchten vanwege een tekort aan vliegtuigbrandstof. Hij wijst bijvoorbeeld naar Azi\u00eb, waar tekorten in delen van het continent al hebben geleid tot annuleringen van vluchten vanwege een gebrek aan vliegtuigbrandstof.<\/p>\n

De belangrijkste ontwikkeling in dit verband is het nieuws dat Lufthansa de vluchten van haar regionale dochteronderneming Lufthansa CityLine opschort vanwege de hoge brandstofkosten en stakingen, waarbij de 27 vliegtuigen van de verliesgevende divisie definitief uit het vluchtschema worden geschrapt.<\/p>\n

De voorraad neemt veel sneller af dan normaal<\/h4>\n

De Europese Commissie uitte eerder deze week ook haar bezorgdheid over problemen met de levering van vliegtuigbrandstof<\/a> zich \u201cin de nabije toekomst\u201d zouden kunnen voordoen. \u201cEr zijn momenteel geen aanwijzingen van tekorten in de Europese Unie,\u201d zei een woordvoerder, \u201cmaar in de nabije toekomst zouden er bevoorradingsproblemen kunnen ontstaan, vooral met betrekking tot vliegtuigbrandstof.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volgens de woordvoerder blijft de aanvoer van ruwe olie naar Europese raffinaderijen voorlopig stabiel en hoeven er geen extra voorraden te worden vrijgegeven. De raffinaderijen dekken ongeveer 70% van het Europese kerosineverbruik; de rest wordt ge\u00efmporteerd.<\/p>\n

Sinds begin maart zijn de voorraden in de havens van Amsterdam, Rotterdam en Antwerpen echter met ongeveer een kwart gedaald - een veel snellere daling dan normaal.<\/p>\n

De prijs van kerosine is bijna verdubbeld<\/h4>\n

Ondertussen dringen Europese luchtvaartmaatschappijen, verenigd in A4E, er bij de Commissie op aan om direct Europees toezicht op kerosinevoorraden en gezamenlijke brandstofaankopen in te voeren. A43 pleit ook voor financi\u00eble verlichting. Zo vraagt de koepelorganisatie om een tijdelijke opschorting van de emissiehandel en de afschaffing van bepaalde belastingen.<\/p>\n

De Duitse luchtvaartkoepel BDL wil op haar beurt dat de Duitse regering noodmaatregelen neemt om annuleringen van vluchten in de aanloop naar het drukke zomerseizoen te voorkomen. De vereniging vraagt onder andere om toegang tot het pijplijnsysteem van de NAVO om de brandstofbevoorrading op belangrijke hubs zoals Frankfurt en M\u00fcnchen te ondersteunen, en om een tijdelijke verlaging van de CO2-belasting voor luchtvaartmaatschappijen.<\/p>\n

De prijs van kerosine is sinds het begin van de oorlog bijna verdubbeld. Vorige week bereikte de Europese benchmarkprijs voor vliegtuigbrandstof een recordhoogte van $1.838 per ton, vergeleken met $831 voor het begin van de oorlog.<\/p>\n

Geen tekorten bij Brussels Airlines en KLM<\/h4>\n

Volgens Brussels Airlines en Brussels Airport, dat volledig bevoorraad wordt via de NAVO pijplijn die kerosine transporteert vanuit raffinaderijen in Antwerpen en Rotterdam, zijn er momenteel geen aanwijzingen van brandstoftekorten. Ook de luchthavens van Charleroi en Luik ondervinden geen bevoorradingsproblemen.<\/p>\n

KLM houdt ook vol dat het op dit moment geen tekort heeft aan vliegtuigbrandstof, hoewel het de komende maand 80 retourvluchten binnen Europa schrapt - waaronder routes naar Londen en D\u00fcsseldorf - vanwege de stijgende brandstofkosten. Volgens KLM kunnen deze vluchten niet langer rendabel worden uitgevoerd vanwege de stijgende brandstofkosten.<\/p>\n

De Hongaarse lagekostenmaatschappij Wizz Air had vrijdag echter te kampen met brandstoftekorten op drie Italiaanse luchthavens. \u201cHet was allemaal binnen een dag opgelost, en in sommige gevallen binnen een paar uur, zonder dat we vluchten hoefden te annuleren,\u201d zei Wizz Air, maar het is een waarschuwing dat de situatie op sommige plaatsen precair is en alleen maar kan verergeren als het conflict met Iran voortduurt.<\/p>\n

Lufthansa vervangt CityLine toch niet<\/h4>\n

Bij Lufthansa zijn de maatregelen echter nog drastischer. Vanaf zaterdag zal de Duitse luchtvaartmaatschappij de 27 vliegtuigen van haar dochtermaatschappij Lufthansa CityLine permanent aan de grond houden. Het gaat om 27 Bombardier Canadair CRJ-toestellen. Ze naderen het einde van hun operationele levensduur en hebben relatief hogere operationele kosten.<\/p>\n

Met andere woorden, Lufthansa sluit per direct de verlieslatende regionale luchtvaartmaatschappij CityLine. Eerder was er sprake van om de dochteronderneming tegen eind 2026 op te heffen en te vervangen door een soortgelijke luchtvaartmaatschappij.<\/p>\n

Stijgende kerosinekosten spelen hierbij een rol, maar ook stakingskosten. Lufthansa is momenteel verwikkeld in een groot arbeidsconflict<\/a> in Duitsland, wat resulteerde in talrijke geannuleerde vluchten.<\/p>\n

Het doel blijft om de bemanningen van Lufthansa CityLine mogelijkheden te bieden voor een beroepsperspectief binnen de Lufthansa Group, hoewel er gesprekken zullen worden gestart met de personeelsvertegenwoordigers over een verzoening van belangen en een sociaal plan.<\/p>\n

11 vliegtuigen worden uit de vloot genomen<\/h4>\n

Maar Lufthansa neemt ook verdere maatregelen. Zo zal aan het einde van het zomerschema de langeafstandscapaciteit worden teruggebracht met zes intercontinentale toestellen. Daartoe zullen de laatste vier overgebleven Airbus A340-600's in oktober de vloot verlaten, waarmee het tijdperk van dit vliegtuigtype bij Lufthansa definitief ten einde komt. Ook twee Boeing 747-400's worden vanaf oktober aan de grond gehouden voor de komende winter. Het definitieve afscheid van dit vliegtuigtype staat gepland voor volgend jaar.<\/p>\n

En tijdens het winterseizoen 2026-2027 zal de capaciteit voor korte- en middellangeafstandsroutes met vijf vliegtuigen worden verminderd. \u201cDoor de aanzienlijke stijging van de brandstofprijzen en de toenemende extra kosten als gevolg van arbeidsgeschillen, wordt de uitvoering van de bedrijfsstrategie gedeeltelijk versneld.\u201d<\/p>\n

Met andere woorden, het bedrijf heeft nu besloten tot een eerste pakket maatregelen om het vluchtschema te verkorten, waaronder het sneller verwijderen van oudere vliegtuigen met een hoger brandstofverbruik uit de vloot.<\/p>\n

Lufthansa kondigde ook plannen aan om de administratieve kosten verder te verlagen, met besparingen op \u201cwerving, interne evenementen en externe adviesdiensten\u201d, als aanvulling op het al aangekondigde plan om tegen 2030 4000 administratieve functies binnen de groep te schrappen.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
