Dit betekent het einde van bijna acht decennia autoproductie in de Franse hoofdstedelijke regio. Ondertussen is de groep op zoek naar nieuwe Chinese samenwerkingsverbanden om de druk van de overcapaciteit te verlichten.<\/p>\n<p>De fabriek in Poissy bouwt momenteel twee modellen, de Opel Mokka en de DS3. Voor geen van beide werden opvolgers voorzien, wat het gerucht voedde dat Stellantis de productie op de site zou stopzetten. Die angst is nu werkelijkheid geworden. Fabrieksdirecteur Eric Haan en hoofd personeelszaken Xavier Chereau brachten het nieuws tijdens de zitting van de ondernemingsraad.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Van auto's tot mijnbouw<\/h4>\n<p>Stellantis laat de locatie echter niet in de steek. Het bedrijf is van plan om \u20ac100 miljoen te investeren om het opnieuw te gebruiken voor de productie van vervangende carrosserieonderdelen en voertuigrecycling. De faciliteit blijft operationeel, maar in een fundamenteel andere vorm. Dit betekent dat 1.200 banen de herstructureringsstrategie zullen overleven. Toch is het een schril contrast met de hoogtijdagen toen Poissy in de jaren zeventig 27.000 mensen tewerkstelde. Op een steenworp afstand van de fabriek hervormde hetzelfde scenario Renault Flins, waar de productie van de Zo\u00eb werd vervangen door circulaire productie.<\/p>\n<p>De nieuwe koers is een direct gevolg van een structurele ineenstorting van de Europese vraag naar auto's. De verkoop blijft op het hele continent ongeveer 20% onder het niveau van 2019, waarbij de bredere Europese markt zich nu stabiliseert op ruwweg 13 miljoen personenauto's per jaar.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Stellantis zelf verkocht in 2025 wereldwijd 5,4 miljoen voertuigen, tegenover 6,2 miljoen het jaar voordien. De groep is openhartig geweest over zijn overcapaciteitsprobleem sinds de fusie in 2021, waarbij het ontstond uit PSA en Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA).<\/p>\n<h4>Dongfeng komt in beeld<\/h4>\n<p>Om de vraag af te stemmen op de leveringskosten kijkt de groep verder dan harde sluitingen. Volgens Bloomberg liepen er deze week nieuwe gasten door de gangen van andere Stellantis-fabrieken: vertegenwoordigers van Dongfeng Motor. Het Chinese staatsconcern was ooit een belangrijke partner van PSA en is gespot tijdens een bezoek aan fabrieken van de groep in Duitsland en Itali\u00eb.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Naar verluidt zijn de gesprekken tussen de twee bedrijven nieuw leven ingeblazen, waarbij het mogelijk gaat om gezamenlijke autoproductie in zowel Europa als China. Dongfeng zou toegang kunnen krijgen tot de onderbenutte productiecapaciteit van Stellantis en tariefvrije toegang tot de Europese markt kunnen krijgen, maar geen van beide partijen heeft een overeenkomst bevestigd.<\/p>\n<h4>Een Chinese Mokka?<\/h4>\n<p>De interesse van Dongfeng staat los van, maar loopt parallel aan, een veel verder ontwikkelde reeks besprekingen die al aan de gang zijn met Leapmotor (de Chinese EV-fabrikant waarin Stellantis een belang heeft van ongeveer 21% en die een groot succes is). De twee bedrijven voeren vergevorderde gesprekken om samen een elektrische SUV onder het Opel-merk te ontwikkelen, met de codenaam O3U, in de fabriek van Stellantis in Zaragoza, Spanje.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>De productie is gepland voor 2028 met een jaarlijkse productie van ongeveer 50.000 eenheden. Het model zou zijn onderliggende architectuur delen met de B10 van Leapmotor, waarbij Opel alleen het exterieurdesign voor zijn rekening zou nemen. Er wordt ook gekeken naar een Alfa Romeo-afgeleide op hetzelfde platform. Voor Opel zou dit de opvolger van de Mokka uit Poissy kunnen zijn.<\/p>\n<p>Antonio Filosa, CEO van Stellantis, zal op 21 mei een volledig strategisch plan presenteren. Wat nu al duidelijk is, is dat Stellantis zwaar inzet op Chinese partnerschappen om de productgaten op te vullen die zijn achtergelaten door de geannuleerde EV-programma's, waarbij onderbenutte Europese fabrieken als onderhandelingstroef worden gebruikt.
