Na eerst de #2 aankondigen voor 2026<\/a> en zelfs met foto's van gecamoufleerde prototypes<\/a>, Smart heeft nu de conceptversie van de Fortwo opvolger onthuld. De Concept #2 combineert de originele Fortwo met de moderne designkenmerken van het merk en zal in oktober in Parijs in productie gaan.<\/p>\n

Sinds zijn renaissance onder de Geely-paraplu, die in 2019 een belang van 50% nam, is Smart afgeweken van zijn oorspronkelijke DNA als supercompacte stadsauto. De #1, #3 en #5 zijn allemaal elektrische SUV's. De laatste is bijna twee keer zo lang als de oorspronkelijke Fortwo (of City-Coup\u00e9, zoals hij oorspronkelijk heette) uit 1998. Maar het merk is zijn wortels niet vergeten en brengt later dit jaar de kleine tweezitter terug.<\/p>\n

Fortwo opvolger op geheel nieuwe architectuur<\/h4>\n

Om ons alvast op te warmen voor de offici\u00eble lancering van het model op de Autosalon van Parijs in oktober, heeft Smart de Concept #2 onthuld tijdens Auto China 2026 in Beijing. Het model is ontworpen door het Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team, dat ook een designcentrum heeft in Shanghai, en is gebaseerd op de geheel nieuwe, eigen Electric Compact Architecture (ECA).<\/p>\n

Qua design refereert de Smart Concept #2 sterk aan het originele model van bijna 30 jaar geleden, terwijl het een meer premium look toevoegt. De matwitte carrosserie wordt geaccentueerd met gouden elementen en fijne details zoals lederen riemen in de voorbumper - hoewel we er niet op zouden rekenen dat die in productie worden genomen.<\/p>\n

Klein formaat, maar een beter bruikbaar elektrisch bereik<\/h4>\n

Elementen van het moderne Smart-tijdperk zijn ook zichtbaar, zoals de driehoekige koplampen, vergelijkbaar met die op de #1 en #3 modellen. Met een lengte van 2.792 mm blijft de Smart Concept #2 dicht bij de afmetingen van het origineel, met een kleine draaicirkel van 6,95 meter om gemakkelijk manoeuvreren in krappe stadsruimtes te garanderen.<\/p>\n

Maar de Smart #2 belooft veel bruikbaarder te zijn dan zijn voorganger, de EQ Fortwo, die slechts 145 km actieradius bood. Het ECA-platform biedt voldoende ruimte voor een batterij met een WLTP-bereik van bijna 300 km, terwijl snelladen van 10 tot 80% minder dan 20 minuten duurt. Met de V2L-functionaliteit kunnen ook externe accessoires worden opgeladen via de hoogspanningsaccu.<\/p>\n

Wereldwijd debuut in Parijs<\/h4>\n
