Op de 2026 Beijing Auto Show hebben Dongfeng's twee Franse joint ventures vier conceptauto's gepresenteerd in een geco\u00f6rdineerde campagne die meer lijkt dan een ontwerpoefening. De productie start in 2027, op Chinese platforms, in China, maar export staat op de agenda. Zijn dit de opvolgers van de befaamde Peugeot 508 en 5008?<\/p>\n

De Beijing International Auto Show fungeert in toenemende mate als barometer voor westerse merken om de interesse van klanten te peilen en te anticiperen op toekomstige technologie\u00ebn. Dongfeng Peugeot en Dongfeng Citro\u00ebn arriveerden met vier conceptauto's.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Deze zijn niet alleen voor de show. De productiemodellen die uit deze concepten volgen, zullen op Dongfeng-platforms staan en uit Dongfengs assemblagefabriek in Wuhan rollen. De betekenis is dat Peugeot niet alleen Chinese productiecapaciteit gebruikt, maar ook Chinese technologie gebruikt als basis voor een productassortiment dat CEO Alain Favey wereldwijd relevant noemt. \u201cChina is een belangrijke motor achter onze wereldwijde transformatie\u201d, zei hij. Met andere woorden, we moeten niet verbaasd zijn als we Europese modellen gebouwd en ontwikkeld zien worden in de Volksrepubliek.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Een nieuw segment wacht<\/h4>\n

De twee belangrijkste onthullingen van Peugeot hebben geen mooie namen. De Concept 6 houdt het midden tussen een sedan en een shooting brake. Peugeot heeft het over het oproepen van zijn geschiedenis met dat type auto, en dit is waarschijnlijk een voorproefje van een 508-opvolger. Peugeot trok zich in 2025 stilletjes terug uit dit segment toen de productie van de tweede generatie van de 508 eindigde.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De Concept 8 is een grotere propositie, een full-size SUV met een aerodynamisch silhouet en een aanzienlijke visuele massa. Dit model is een voorproefje van een nieuw vlaggenschip dat zich boven de huidige 5008 zou positioneren. Het is een nieuw segment voor het merk. Een waar Favay op zinspeelde tijdens het Autosalon van Brussel in januari. \u201dZo'n auto zou echt iets anders moeten zijn\u201d, verklaarde hij toen. Het Beijing concept suggereert dat die richting is bepaald.<\/p>\n

Nog geen aandrijflijnen<\/h4>\n

Wat de technologie betreft, is bevestigd dat zowel de Concept 6 als de Concept 8 beschikken over steer-by-wire technologie, geavanceerde rijhulpsystemen en configureerbare rijmodi. Gedetailleerde specificaties van de aandrijflijn zijn nog niet bekendgemaakt.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

De voorkant van beide auto's is voorzien van de LED-drieklauw die kenmerkend is geworden voor Peugeot, omlijst door een gesloten grille en, zoals de moderne trend voorschrijft, verlichte logo's op zowel de grille als de spatborden.<\/p>\n

Terug naar de erfenis?<\/h4>\n

Op de Peugeot-stand stond ook de Polygon Concept, een studie van minder dan 4 meter die Peugeot in november vorig jaar onthulde. Hij is verbonden met de Concept 6 en Concept 8 via zijn middelpunt: het Hypersquare. Dit vierkante wiel is gekoppeld aan een volledig elektronische steer-by-wire architectuur, een systeem dat is ontleend aan de ruimtevaart.<\/p>\n

Zustermerk Citro\u00ebn bracht ook een oudere nieuwkomer naar Beijing (vanaf december 2025): de ELO Concept, zijn moderne MPV. De boodschap van dit concept is echter niet alleen het slimme interieur: de bestuurdersstoel bevindt zich in het midden van de cabine, waardoor twee verschillende zitopstellingen mogelijk zijn: een 1+3 lay-out met de bestuurder alleen op de voorste rij, of een meer conventionele 3+3 configuratie met zes zitplaatsen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Volgens CEO Xavier Chardon wil Citro\u00ebn de strijd aangaan met de Chinese concurrentie door gebruik te maken van zijn voorsprong. Hoewel Aziaten vooral dol zijn op \u2018huiskamerinterieurs\u2019 voor hun auto's, zou Citro\u00ebn weer aansluiting kunnen vinden door een serieuze opvolger van de Picasso op de markt te brengen.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
