Dit is opnieuw een stijging ten opzichte van de vorige jaren, toen respectievelijk 62 en 57 chauffeurs werden betrapt tijdens preventieve controles.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens Vlaams parlementslid en CD&amp;V-fractieleider Peter Van Rompuy, die de cijfers opvroeg, weerspiegelt de stijging een bredere maatschappelijke trend die moeilijk door \u00e9\u00e9n werkgever alleen kan worden omgebogen. Toch verwacht hij dat De Lijn een nultolerantiebeleid zal voeren.<\/p>\n<h4>Oproep voor meer controles en strengere straffen<\/h4>\n<p>Wat opvalt in de cijfers is dat er tijdens controles meer chauffeurs betrapt worden op het gebruik van drugs dan op het gebruik van alcohol. Zo betrapte De Lijn vorig jaar 45 chauffeurs op het gebruik van drugs, tegenover \u2018slechts\u2019 23 chauffeurs voor te veel drinken.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens Peter Van Rompuy weerspiegelt deze stijging het stijgende druggebruik in de hele samenleving. Zijn partij, CD&amp;V, roept op tot aanzienlijk meer controles en, indien nodig, zwaardere straffen, gezien de stijgende aantallen.<\/p>\n<h4>Bijna 7.000 alcohol- en drugstests<\/h4>\n<p>Iedereen bij De Lijn die positief test bij een preventieve alcohol- of drugstest, wordt tijdelijk geschorst. Bovendien moeten werknemers die betrapt worden, deelnemen aan een begeleidingsprogramma en gedurende zes maanden regelmatig alcohol- en drugstests ondergaan. Als chauffeurs tijdens hun werk bij een politiecontrole worden betrapt op het gebruik van alcohol of drugs, kunnen ze op staande voet worden ontslagen.<\/p>\n<p>Het management van De Lijn benadrukt dat het transportbedrijf chauffeurs al lang duidelijk maakt dat alcohol en drugs \u201cabsoluut onaanvaardbaar\u201d zijn en dat het regelmatig controles uitvoert.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025 voerde De Lijn 6.900 alcoholtesten en 3.500 drugtesten uit bij bestuurders. Dit is een lichte stijging van het aantal testen ten opzichte van 2024. Van die tests was 0,6% positief.<\/p>\n<h4>Pan-Europees fenomeen<\/h4>\n<p>De Lijn voert preventieve alcohol- en drugscontroles uit op haar eigen remises, maar niet op de remises van onderaannemers - priv\u00e9busmaatschappijen die voor De Lijn rijden. Plus: door een hoog personeelsverloop en een chronisch chauffeurstekort staat De Lijn onder druk om haar medewerkers te behouden.<\/p>\n<p>Het fenomeen van toenemend drugsgebruik onder bestuurders is een pan-Europees fenomeen.
