Lange afstanden rijden met een elektrische auto is lange tijd een uitdaging geweest. Moderne EV's hebben echter de afstandsangst voor veel mensen grotendeels weggenomen, dankzij grotere accu's, effici\u00ebntere aandrijflijnen, sneller opladen en actieradiuscijfers die tien jaar geleden nog ondenkbaar waren.<\/p>\n

We bereiken nu een punt waarop het rijden in een EV van de laatste generatie niet met al te veel compromissen gepaard gaat. Een van die EV's is de nieuwe BMW iX3, een SUV die meer dan 600 echte kilometers op een volle lading, snel stoppen met opladen, goede prestaties en veel comfort belooft.<\/p>\n

De iX3 maakt niet alleen op papier indruk, zoals EV-liefhebber en YouTuber Bjorn Nyland<\/a> onlangs ontdekt. Nyland nam de iX3 xDrive50, de enige versie die momenteel verkrijgbaar is, mee op een roadtrip van 1.000 km om te zien hoe hij het zou doen ten opzichte van de concurrentie.<\/p>\n

1.000 km snelwegtest<\/h4>\n

Kortom, Nyland wilde zien hoeveel tijd het kost om 1000 kilometer op de snelweg te rijden in echte verkeersomstandigheden, inclusief oplaadstops. Effici\u00ebntie, laadsnelheid en batterijcapaciteit werden allemaal in \u00e9\u00e9n keer getest. De iX3 stelde blijkbaar niet teleur.<\/p>\n

Met een volle accu ging Nyland de snelweg op met de cruisecontrol ingesteld op 120 km\/u en een omgevingstemperatuur van rond de 0\u00b0C. Dat is niet ideaal als je het maximale bereik uit de (zeer grote) 108 kWh batterij wilt halen. Het feit dat de auto op 21-inch wielen reed, in plaats van de effici\u00ebntere 20-inchers, hielp ook niet.<\/p>\n

8 uur en 55 minuten<\/h4>\n

Na slechts twee keer te zijn gestopt tijdens de reis, voltooide de BMW iX3 de uitdaging in 8 uur en 55 minuten. Dat is dezelfde tijd als de Tesla Model S Long Range en de Zeekr 7X Performance. De iX3 was echter effici\u00ebnter dan deze twee auto's, ondanks het feit dat hij in kouder weer reed. Normaal gesproken levert de iX3 nog betere resultaten bij mooier weer.<\/p>\n

De iX3 heeft het allemaal, volgens Nyland: \u201cHij is effici\u00ebnt, gemiddeld 26,7 kWh\/100 km, hij laadt heel snel op, tot 400 kW, en beknibbelt niet op prestaties of comfort.\u201d<\/p>\n

Onze visie<\/h4>\n

We hebben net een week in een iX3 mogen rijden. Eerlijk gezegd begrijpen we niet precies hoe je een gemiddeld energieverbruik van bijna 27 kWh\/100km effici\u00ebnt kunt noemen. Natuurlijk, de iX3 is groot en zwaar, en het feit dat het een SUV is komt de aerodynamica niet ten goede, maar een luchtweerstandsco\u00ebffici\u00ebnt van 0,26 is erg goed voor een sport utility vehicle.<\/p>\n

Onze testauto had nog grotere wielen (22 inch), maar we konden er in redelijk weer en in allerlei soorten verkeer mee rijden. We haalden een gemiddelde van iets meer dan 18 kWh\/100 km en kwamen niet boven de 20 kW\/100 km uit op de snelweg bij dezelfde snelheden als Nyland's testrit.<\/p>\n

Kortom, we waren fan van het comfort, de geruisloze rit, de prestaties en de effici\u00ebntie van zo'n grote auto. We waren vooral te spreken over het panoramische display net onder de voorruit en de afwezigheid van hele grote schermen op het dashboard. De stoelen zijn ook erg comfortabel. De ophanging kan een beetje hard zijn (22-inchers?) op onze niet zo goed onderhouden Belgische wegen, dus adaptieve demping zou de zaken nog kunnen verbeteren.<\/p>\n

De \u2018no fuzz\u2019 eenvoudige maar rechttoe rechtaan dashboardaanpak van BMW is een echte verademing vergeleken met wat sommige concurrenten bieden \/BMW<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

De auto had een indrukwekkende wegligging en was ook vrij gemakkelijk te manoeuvreren voor zijn grootte, dankzij de (optionele) vierwielbesturing waarmee onze testauto was uitgerust. Qua design lijkt de auto nog steeds op de iX waar we nooit zo'n fan van waren, maar in de iX3 groeit hij naar je toe en is het alleen het zijaanzicht dat iets meer persoonlijkheid zou kunnen hebben.<\/p>\n

Om af te sluiten, wat Nyland heeft bereikt is niet bijzonder indrukwekkend. Ik denk dat het beter kan, bij ons snelweggemiddelde volstaat bijvoorbeeld \u00e9\u00e9n stop, maar daar gaat het niet om. Waar het om gaat is dat de iX3 een van de betere SUV's op de markt is op dit moment, maar we zullen snel zien wat de volledig elektrische Mercedes GLC en Volvo EX60 uiteindelijk kunnen.<\/p>\n

Wat BMW betreft, wachten we met spanning op het andere aankomende model op het platform en de technologie van de \u2018Neue Klasse\u2019, de i3. Een i3 Touring zou onze keuze zijn in deze prijsklasse, met dezelfde ruimte als deze SUV en een veel aantrekkelijker en aerodynamisch effici\u00ebnter uiterlijk.
