De Gentse softwarebouwer voor laadstations Optimile heeft een nieuwe adem gevonden. Om zijn activiteiten op Europees niveau uit te breiden, is het bedrijf volledig overgenomen door de Duitse tankkaartgigant DKV Mobility. De overname past in een breder scenario, aangezien DKV Mobility de afgelopen jaren soortgelijke bedrijven heeft opgekocht om de overstap te maken van fossiele brandstoffen naar emissievrije energie.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DKV Mobility heeft overeenstemming bereikt met aandeelhouders BNP Paribas en AG Insurance over de volledige overname van de Belgische softwareleverancier voor laadoplossingen Optimile. Financi\u00eble details over de deal blijven geheim. In 2024 had Optimile een omzet van \u20ac48,2 miljoen bereikt, met een kleine maar betekenisvolle winst van bijna \u20ac1 miljoen.<\/p>\n

Onderdeel van een nieuw platform<\/h4>\n

Voor het Duitse tankkaartbedrijf is Optimile het ontbrekende puzzelstuk in het nieuwe platform dat het probeert samen te stellen. Na de overname van Smartlab, gespecialiseerd in de facturering van laadpuntnetwerken, en GreenFlux, dat zich toelegt op slim laden en load balancing, voegt Optimile zich bij de constellatie met softwareoplossingen voor klanten die op zoek zijn naar laadbeheer. Het Belgische bedrijf heeft ook een divisie voor laadpassen, Mobiflow.<\/p>\n

Ook de geografie speelt een rol. \u201cBelgi\u00eb is een van de sterkste en snelst groeiende e-mobiliteitsmarkten van Europa,\u201d zei Sven Mehringer, de directeur van DKV Mobility die verantwoordelijk is voor energie en voertuigservices, in de aankondiging van de overname.<\/p>\n

Maar onder Duits eigendom zal Optimile zich ver buiten de landsgrenzen uitbreiden. De software wordt gedistribueerd over een netwerk dat al 1,5 miljoen laadpassen en 1,1 miljoen openbare laadpunten van de DKV Mobility groep bereikt.<\/p>\n

Dit is een belangrijke schaalvergrotingsoperatie. Het inzetten van de oplaadsoftware in Duitsland, Frankrijk, Scandinavi\u00eb en daarbuiten vereist een ander soort spierballen - denk aan verkoopinfrastructuur, het beheersen van wettelijke vereisten en kapitaal - die een middelgroot bedrijf in Gent simpelweg niet zelf kan financieren of beheren.<\/p>\n

Succesverhaal<\/h4>\n

Optimile is een succesverhaal. Het werd precies tien jaar geleden gelanceerd. In 2016 begon een klein team met het bouwen van software voor laadstations in Gent. Het richtte zich op de onzichtbare laag die ervoor zorgt dat oplaadpunten echt werken: de bits en bytes achter autorisatie, monitoring, toegangsbeheer of roaming over de grens. Het bedrijf is nauwelijks bekend bij het grote publiek.<\/p>\n

Dit is deels te danken aan hun belangrijkste klanten, waaronder exploitanten van benzinestations, energiebedrijven, installateurs van oplaadpunten, supermarktketens, enzovoort. Dit zijn grotere spelers die een netwerk van laadpalen beheren.<\/p>\n

De strategie werkte. Tegen het einde van 2024 had Optimile 60 werknemers in dienst en ging het bedrijf verder met zijn Mobiflow-oplaadkaarten, die nu een herkenbaar merk zijn geworden in de Benelux.
