Air Congo zal vanaf begin juli vluchten uitvoeren vanaf Brussels Airport. Hiermee komt ook een einde aan het meer dan 15 jaar durende monopolie van Brussels Airlines op de route Brussel-Kinshasa.<\/p>\n

Het nieuws werd gemeld door flightlevel.be en werd ook bevestigd door de Federale Overheidsdienst Mobiliteit. Air Congo wil vijf vluchten per week uitvoeren in beide richtingen.<\/p>\n

Snelle groei<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Volgens de Federale Overheidsdienst Mobiliteit wacht de Algemene Directie Luchtvaart momenteel nog steeds op het vluchtschema van Air Congo om deze vluchten goed te keuren. Het vluchtschema is vergelijkbaar met dat van Brussels Airlines: vertrek uit Kinshasa om 22 uur, aankomst in Brussel om 7 uur, en een terugvlucht die vertrekt om 10 uur en aankomt in Kinshasa kort na 17 uur. De vluchten zouden worden uitgevoerd met vliegtuigen van Ethiopian Airlines, een belangrijke aandeelhouder van Air Congo.<\/p>\n

Air Congo, opgericht in december 2024, heeft de Congolese overheid als meerderheidsaandeelhouder (51%) en Ethiopian Airlines, de grootste en meest succesvolle luchtvaartgroep in Afrika, als partner (49%). Ondanks haar recente oprichting heeft ze al 43% van de binnenlandse markt in de DRC veroverd, met een gemiddelde bezettingsgraad van ongeveer 70%.<\/p>\n

De luchtvaartmaatschappij begon met twee Boeing 737-800 vliegtuigen en nam begin 2026 een derde Boeing in ontvangst. Om kleinere en meer afgelegen binnenlandse luchthavens in de DRC effici\u00ebnt te kunnen bedienen, heeft de luchtvaartmaatschappij via Ethiopian Airlines nieuwe, zuinige ATR 72-600 turbopropvliegtuigen geleased.<\/p>\n

Over vijf bestemmingen in Afrika<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Air Congo verbindt Kinshasa nu met de belangrijkste economische hubs van het land, zoals Lubumbashi, Goma, Kisangani, Mbujimayi, Kananga, Kindu, Kolwezi en Bukavu. Maar het heeft zijn activiteiten ook uitgebreid naar de rest van het continent. Sinds maart\/april 2026 vliegen ze naar Johannesburg (Zuid-Afrika), Entebbe (Oeganda), Douala (Kameroen), Cotonou (Benin) en Dar es Salaam (Tanzania).<\/p>\n

Met Brussels Airport is de eerste grote intercontinentale stap nu binnen handbereik. Naast Brussel vlogen in 2025 ongeveer 85.150 passagiers heen en weer op de route tussen Belgi\u00eb en de DRC, waarvan 40% point-to-point. Het langetermijnplan van Air Congo omvat ook andere grote intercontinentale hubs, zoals Parijs en Dubai.<\/p>\n
