{"id":186684,"date":"2026-05-25T08:15:37","date_gmt":"2026-05-25T06:15:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newmobility.news\/?p=186684"},"modified":"2026-05-25T08:15:37","modified_gmt":"2026-05-25T06:15:37","slug":"landshut-powers-bmws-ev-catch-up-and-hydrogen-bet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newmobility.news\/nl\/2026\/05\/25\/landshut-powers-bmws-ev-catch-up-and-hydrogen-bet\/","title":{"rendered":"Landshut drijft BMW's inhaalslag EV en waterstofinzet aan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BMW Group fabriek Landshut is begonnen met de voorserieproductie van een waterstofspecifieke versie van zijn \u201cEnergy Master\u201d, een belangrijke besturingseenheid voor de toekomstige BMW iX5 Waterstof.<\/p>\n<p>Tegelijkertijd neemt de Duitse vestiging een tweede productielijn in gebruik voor de batterij-elektrische versie van hetzelfde onderdeel, dat wordt gebruikt in Neue Klasse modellen zoals de nieuwe BMW iX3 en de toekomstige i3.<\/p>\n<p>De verhuizing plaatst Landshut in het centrum van BMW's tweesporenstrategie voor emissievrije auto's: enerzijds grote volumes batterij-elektrische auto's en anderzijds waterstof-brandstofcelauto's voor geselecteerde toepassingen.<\/p>\n<p>De Energy Master is de centrale besturingseenheid van het hoogspanningssysteem. In batterij-elektrische auto's zit hij op de hoogspanningsbatterij.<\/p>\n<p>In de iX5 Hydrogen wordt een aangepaste versie ge\u00efnstalleerd op BMW's Hydrogen Flat Storage systeem, waar het de energie- en gegevensstromen beheert tussen het brandstofcelsysteem, de hoogspanningsaccu en de elektrische aandrijfmachines.<\/p>\n<h4>Volledig in-house productie<\/h4>\n<p>Voor het eerst ontwikkelt en produceert BMW het onderdeel volledig in eigen huis, wat onderstreept hoe strategisch belangrijk vermogenselektronica is geworden in het EV-tijdperk.<\/p>\n<p>Voor BMW is de aankondiging in Landshut meer dan een verhaal over componenten. Het markeert de industrialisatie van de elektrische ruggengraat achter de Neue Klasse, de architectuur die bedoeld is om het concurrentievermogen van het merk op het gebied van elektrische auto's te herstellen.<\/p>\n<p>De nieuwe generatie brengt BMW van de huidige 400 volt EV's naar een 800 volt systeem, dat tot 400 kW gelijkstroom laden mogelijk maakt. BMW claimt dat in de nieuwe iX3 tot 372 kilometer WLTP actieradius kan worden toegevoegd in tien minuten onder ideale omstandigheden.<\/p>\n<p>Samen met de cilindrische Gen6-cellen, een hogere energiedichtheid en een nieuwe elektronica-architectuur, staat de 800 volt-stap centraal in BMW's poging om de kloof met eerdere leiders op het gebied van snelladen te dichten.<\/p>\n<h4>Te laat in 800 volt?<\/h4>\n<p>Die kloof is echt. Porsche heeft de 800-volttechnologie in 2019 in serieproductie genomen met de Taycan, waarbij de hogere spanning wordt gebruikt om de stroom te verlagen, kabelgewicht te besparen en herhaalde krachtige prestaties te ondersteunen.<\/p>\n<p>Hyundai Motor Group volgde met zijn E-GMP-platform, dat vanaf 2021 modellen als de Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6 en Genesis GV60 zal ondersteunen.<\/p>\n<p>Deze auto's brachten snelladen met 800 volt in meer gangbare prijssegmenten, met laadtijden van 10 tot 80% van ongeveer 18 minuten op geschikte laders van 350 kW.<\/p>\n<p>Lucid ging nog een stap verder met een 900V-plus architectuur voor de Air, waarbij effici\u00ebntie en een zeer hoog laadvermogen in een hoogwaardig, gespecialiseerd pakket prioriteit kregen.<\/p>\n<p>BMW's latere komst weerspiegelt een andere strategische keuze. Na de vroege i3 heeft het bedrijf een groot deel van de jaren 2010 en begin 2020 besteed aan het bouwen van EV's op flexibele architecturen die gedeeld worden met verbrandings- en plug-in hybride modellen.<\/p>\n<p>Hierdoor kon BMW de flexibiliteit en marges van de fabriek beschermen terwijl de vraag, de regelgeving en de laadinfrastructuur evolueerden.<\/p>\n<p>Het betekende ook dat modellen zoals de i4, iX, i5 en i7 concurrerend waren op het gebied van actieradius en rijervaring, maar niet toonaangevend waren op het gebied van elektrische architectuur.<\/p>\n<p>Neue Klasse is BMW's antwoord op dat compromis: niet gewoon een upgrade van 800 volt, maar een diepgaandere reset van batterijformaat, software, vermogenselektronica en productie.<\/p>\n<h4>Grote voordelen<\/h4>\n<p>De voor de hand liggende vraag is waarom BMW stopt bij 800 volt terwijl sommige rivalen 900 volt of hoger aanprijzen. Het antwoord ligt in afnemende opbrengsten en industri\u00eble schaal. Door over te stappen van 400V naar 800V wordt de stroom bij hetzelfde laadvermogen ruwweg gehalveerd, wat grote voordelen oplevert op het gebied van warmte, kabels, connectoren en laadsnelheid.<\/p>\n<p>Overgaan van 800V naar 900V of 1000V helpt nog steeds, maar de extra winst is kleiner, terwijl de isolatievereisten, componentkosten, validatie en compatibiliteitsuitdagingen toenemen. Voor een premium fabrikant die van plan is om de architectuur over veel modellen te schalen, is 800V eerder een pragmatische sweet spot dan een technisch plafond.<\/p>\n<p>Het past ook bij de huidige laadinfrastructuur. CCS-laders met een hoog vermogen worden in Europa steeds vaker ontworpen voor het spanningsbereik van 800 V voor auto's met een spanning van 800 V, terwijl het opladen van 400 kW al voldoet aan de praktische behoeften van de meeste passagiersvoertuigen voor lange afstanden.<\/p>\n<p>Hogere voltages zijn wellicht zinvoller voor gespecialiseerde luxe EV's, extreem krachtige modellen of zware voertuigen die op weg zijn naar megawattlading.<\/p>\n<p>Voor BMW's kernauto's is de grotere commerci\u00eble vraag niet of de systeemspanning 800 V of 900 V is, maar of de auto een sterke laadcurve kan aanhouden, effici\u00ebnt blijft op snelwegsnelheden en winstgevend op schaal kan worden gebouwd.<\/p>\n<p>De waterstofkant van het Landshut-verhaal moet op dezelfde pragmatische manier worden gelezen. BMW positioneert waterstof niet als vervanging voor batterij-elektrische auto's.<\/p>\n<p>In plaats daarvan wordt de optie in leven gehouden voor klanten en regio's waar lange afstanden, snel tanken en diversificatie van energiebronnen van belang kunnen zijn.<\/p>\n<p>De volgende iX5 Hydrogen staat gepland voor 2028, met een nieuw tankconcept dat in prototypevorm een actieradius tot 750 kilometer claimt. Het brandstofcelsysteem van de derde generatie wordt samen met Toyota ontwikkeld, terwijl de serieproductie van brandstofcelsystemen is gepland in de BMW Group fabriek in Steyr.<\/p>\n<p>Dit maakt Landshut tot een strategische brug. In dezelfde fabriek wordt de Energy Master voor Neue Klasse EV's opgeschaald en wordt de waterstofspecifieke versie voor de toekomstige iX5 Hydrogen voorbereid. Dat betekent niet dat waterstof van de ene op de andere dag een pijler voor de massamarkt zal worden. De infrastructuur blijft beperkt, groene waterstof blijft duur en batterij-elektrische auto's hebben een grote voorsprong op de markt.
