BYD brengt plug-in hybride technologie naar het B-segment, een klasse die tot nu toe door autofabrikanten werd gemeden of verlaten.<\/b><\/p>\n

De Dolphin G DM-i richt zich volledig op het B-segment in Europa. Dit is niet alleen het eerste model dat BYD speciaal heeft ontwikkeld voor overzeese markten, maar het is ook de enige PHEV die momenteel te koop is in het Europese B-segment.<\/p>\n

Een leemte opvullen<\/h4>\n

Het B-segment is het hart van de Europese automarkt, maar toch verkoopt geen enkele grote autofabrikant momenteel een plug-in hybride in deze klasse. Renault stopte met de Captur PHEV vanwege de kosten en koos in plaats daarvan voor de eenvoudigere full-hybride variant. Toyota, Volkswagen en anderen zijn gebleven bij zelfopladende of mild-hybride aandrijflijnen van dit formaat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Daarom is de stap van BYD niet zomaar een productlancering; het merk vult een gat waarvoor de behoefte nog onbevestigd is. Het komt aan op de prijs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Qua afmetingen (4.160 mm lang en 1.825 mm breed) staat de Dolphin G DM-i direct naast de Toyota Yaris, Volkswagen Polo en Renault Clio. Ondanks zijn naam heeft het model zijn eigen styling, met kleine koplampen, een actieve luchtinlaat aan de voorkant en een algemene uitstraling. Hij biedt plaats aan vijf personen, maar er zijn nog geen foto's van het interieur vrijgegeven.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bereik van meer dan 1.000 km<\/h4>\n

Voor BYD is de ge\u00eblektrificeerde aandrijflijn heel logisch. Hoewel BYD vooral bekend staat als fabrikant van BEV's en batterijen, haalt het bedrijf het grootste deel van zijn Europese verkoop uit modellen met verbrandingsmotoren. De Dolphin G DM-i maakt gebruik van zijn eigen Super Hybrid DM-i technologie, die onder de meeste omstandigheden de voorkeur geeft aan elektrisch rijden.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

DM-i maakt gebruik van een elektromotor aan de voorzijde en BYD bevestigt dat de Dolphin een gecombineerde WLTP actieradius van meer dan 1.000 km haalt op een volle accu en een volle tank. De definitieve technische specificaties en uitrustingsniveaus worden volgende maand bekendgemaakt tijdens een officieel lanceringsevenement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Maar gezien de gedeelde platformarchitectuur met de Atto 2 DM-i is een vergelijkbare aandrijflijn te verwachten: een 1,5-liter benzinemotor met natuurlijke aanzuiging die als generator fungeert, gekoppeld aan een 145 kW elektromotor aan de voorkant, met de keuze tussen een 7,8 kWh batterij (ongeveer 40 km elektrisch bereik) en een 18 kWh pakket (ongeveer 90 km).<\/p>\n

Gebouwd in Hongarije?<\/h4>\n

Een belangrijk element dat de PHEV-strategie van BYD bepaalt, is het EU-tariefkader. Voor de batterij-elektrische modellen van BYD geldt een extra importheffing van 17% bovenop de standaardheffing van 10%, maar plug-in hybrides uit China zijn niet onderworpen aan de strafmaatregelen.<\/p>\n

Maar volgens CarNewsChina is de Dolphin G DM-i ook een sterke kandidaat voor assemblage in de Europese fabriek van BYD in Szeged, Hongarije. Een verrassende beslissing vanuit het oogpunt van de aandrijflijn, omdat die fabriek de tarieven wil vermijden die niet gelden voor de Dolphin als PHEV.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Concurrenten zoals Renault hebben geprobeerd om klanten in het B-segment te verleiden met ge\u00eblektrificeerde benzinemotoren, maar dit mocht niet baten vanwege de prijsnadelen. De Dolphin DM-i heeft nog geen prijskaartje, dus om succes te garanderen zal BYD moeten aantonen dat zijn Chinese ecosysteem rendabel is.<\/p>\n
