De Nederlandse spoorwegmaatschappij GoVolta start op 14 december een dagelijkse treinverbinding tussen Amsterdam en Parijs, met haltes in Antwerpen-Centraal en Gent-Sint-Pieters. Voor Gent betekent dit de terugkeer van een rechtstreekse treinverbinding met Parijs sinds de stopzetting van de Thalys in 2015.<\/p>\n

GoVolta belooft tarieven vanaf \u20ac10 voor treinreizen van of naar Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n

Eerder dit jaar begon GoVolta - dat zichzelf positioneert als een low-cost carrier op de internationale spoorwegmarkt - al met het aanbieden van treindiensten van Amsterdam naar Berlijn en Hamburg.<\/p>\n

\u201cGent is een zeer aantrekkelijke bestemming\u201d<\/h4>\n

De reden dat de treinen in Belgi\u00eb wel in Antwerpen en Gent stoppen, maar niet in Brussel, is dat de hoofdstad volgens GoVolta al voldoende verbindingen heeft met Amsterdam en Parijs. \u201cGent, een middeleeuwse stad met 260.000 inwoners en een zeer aantrekkelijke bestemming, had geen directe internationale treinverbindingen vanuit Nederland of Parijs\u201d, aldus de spoorwegmaatschappij.<\/p>\n

Antwerpen heeft al verbindingen met Amsterdam en Parijs, waaronder de Eurostar hogesnelheidstreinen en Eurocity Direct.<\/p>\n

Tickets naar Amsterdam en Parijs vanaf \u20ac19<\/h4>\n

De reis tussen Amsterdam en Parijs duurt iets meer dan 7 uur. Onderweg zijn er stops in Haarlem, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Lage Zwaluwe en Roosendaal; vervolgens in Antwerpen Centraal en Gent-Sint-Pieters; en in Arras en Parijs.\u00a0Longueau (Amiens).<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Tickets zijn verkrijgbaar vanaf \u20ac 19 - bijna de helft van de \u20ac 35 startprijs voor Eurostar. Het gemiddelde retourtarief wordt geschat op ongeveer \u20ac 50.<\/p>\n

Volgens GoVolta, dat werkt met voormalige I10 treinstellen<\/a> van de Belgische spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS zullen de reistijden van Antwerpen of Gent naar Amsterdam en Parijs naar verwachting 3 tot 4 uur bedragen.<\/p>\n

De dienst zal in eerste instantie \u00e9\u00e9n keer per dag in beide richtingen rijden, met aankomst in Parijs rond 15.00 uur en in Amsterdam rond 23.30 uur. GoVolta hoopt in 2028 een tweede dagelijkse dienst toe te voegen.
