De Chinese autofabrikant Li Auto<\/a> komt naar Europa om zijn i6 middelgrote SUV in het tweede kwartaal van het jaar te lanceren. De elektrische minibus Mega zal tegen het einde van het jaar verkrijgbaar zijn op markten met rechts stuur. Hiermee probeert Li Auto de hevige binnenlandse concurrentie het hoofd te bieden door zijn buitenlandse aanwezigheid uit te breiden, een stap die veel andere Chinese merken volgen.<\/p>\n

Li Auto versnelt zijn globalisatietempo, net zoals zijn binnenlandse collega Nio Inc. zijn overzeese expansie vertraagt. Het bedrijf is van plan om zijn zuiver elektrische Li i6 SUV in de tweede helft van dit jaar op de Europese markt te introduceren, terwijl een rechtsgestuurde versie van de Li Mega MPV of minivan tegen het einde van het jaar op de belangrijkste markten in Azi\u00eb en de Stille Oceaan zal landen.<\/p>\n

Ma Donghui, voorzitter van Li Auto, kondigde de strategie aan tijdens de winstvergadering van het bedrijf over het eerste kwartaal op donderdag. Het bedrijf probeert de hevige binnenlandse concurrentie het hoofd te bieden door zijn buitenlandse aanwezigheid uit te breiden.<\/p>\n

Teleurstellende financi\u00eble resultaten<\/p>\n

Het uitbreidingsplan komt op een moment dat Li Auto teleurstellende financi\u00eble resultaten rapporteerde over het eerste kwartaal. Het bedrijf boekte onverwacht een nettoverlies van 2,3 miljard yuan (299 miljoen euro) in het eerste kwartaal.<\/p>\n

Ter vergelijking: in dezelfde periode van 2025 boekte het bedrijf een nettowinst van 647 miljoen yuan (84 miljoen euro). De omzet van het bedrijf in het eerste kwartaal daalde ook met 11,4% j-o-j tot 23,0 miljard yuan (bijna \u20ac 3 miljard).<\/p>\n

Flexibele strategie<\/h4>\n

Ma zei dat de uitbreiding van de overzeese markt een flexibele, gefaseerde strategie zal zijn. Li Auto zal kiezen uit verschillende opties, zoals het oprichten van dochterondernemingen of het tekenen van exclusieve distributieovereenkomsten, op basis van de grootte van de lokale markt en de concurrentie.<\/p>\n

Het bedrijf hoopt te kunnen vertrouwen op de beste lokale partners om snel een compleet servicesysteem op te bouwen voor verkoop, levering en aftersales.<\/p>\n

Om deze ambitieuze internationalisatiestrategie te ondersteunen, zal de regionale aanpassing aan de productzijde plaatsvinden. Alle volgende nieuwe modellen zullen tegelijkertijd de aanpassing van overzeese regelgeving voltooien tijdens de onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsfase.<\/p>\n

Europa is een belangrijk doelwit<\/h4>\n

Europa is ge\u00efdentificeerd als de belangrijkste doelmarkt voor de volgende groeifase van Li Auto. De Li i6 wordt het belangrijkste product voor de Europese expansie van het bedrijf in de tweede helft van dit jaar.<\/p>\n

Het onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingscentrum van het bedrijf in M\u00fcnchen, Duitsland, werkt aan een grondig begrip van de strenge Europese regelgeving en gebruikersbehoeften. In februari is Li Auto officieel lid geworden van de Chinese Kamer van Koophandel voor de EU (CCCEU).<\/p>\n

Om zijn naamsbekendheid op de Europese markt verder te vergroten, heeft Li Auto zijn deelname aan de 2026 Paris Motor Show bevestigd. Dit is het eerste offici\u00eble optreden van het bedrijf op een internationale autoshow van topniveau in Europa.<\/p>\n

Midden-Oosten en Centraal-Azi\u00eb<\/h4>\n

Voor de markten voor voertuigen met rechtse besturing heeft Li Auto ook een duidelijk lanceringsschema opgesteld. Het bedrijf is van plan om tegen het einde van dit jaar een versie van de Li Mega met rechtse besturing te introduceren in belangrijke regio's in Azi\u00eb en de Stille Oceaan, zoals Hongkong en Singapore.<\/p>\n

In het Midden-Oosten en Centraal-Azi\u00eb zal Li Auto zijn L-serie modellen met groot bereik gebruiken als belangrijkste verkoopmotor. Het onlangs geoptimaliseerde Li L9 SUV-model met groot bereik zal in het derde kwartaal van dit jaar officieel in deze regio's worden ge\u00efntroduceerd.<\/p>\n

Het model is afgestemd op de lokale omgeving met hoge temperaturen en heeft gerichte upgrades van hardware en software ondergaan om de laadprestaties en het thermisch beheer van de airconditioning in de cabine te verbeteren.<\/p>\n

De overzeese expansie van Li Auto begon in de eerste helft van dit jaar vruchten af te werpen. In april tekende het bedrijf dealerovereenkomsten in de Verenigde Arabische Emiraten en Saoedi-Arabi\u00eb en kondigde het uitbreidingsplannen aan voor Cambodja, Laos, Macau en Myanmar.<\/p>\n

Binnenlandse financi\u00eble druk<\/h4>\n

Ondanks het versnelde tempo van de overzeese expansie heeft Li Auto nog steeds te maken met binnenlandse financi\u00eble druk op korte termijn<\/a>. De brutomarge van het bedrijf in het eerste kwartaal kelderde naar 7,9% van 20,5% in dezelfde periode vorig jaar.<\/p>\n

Dit weerspiegelt een daling van de gemiddelde verkoopprijzen als gevolg van een andere productmix en de hevige prijzenoorlog op de binnenlandse markt. Li Auto's vooruitzichten voor het tweede kwartaal lijken daarom relatief conservatief. Het bedrijf verwacht voor het tweede kwartaal leveringen tussen 95.000 en 100.000 voertuigen.<\/p>\n
