Hierdoor zullen vertrekkende passagiers niet langer vloeistoffen en elektronica, zoals laptops, uit hun handbagage moeten halen.<\/p>\n<p>Dankzij de nieuwe scanners zullen vloeistoffen ook in onbeperkte hoeveelheden worden toegelaten in verpakkingen tot 2 liter. Momenteel mogen passagiers maximaal 1 liter vloeistoffen meenemen in verpakkingen tot 100 ml.<\/p>\n<h4>19 passagiersdoorgangen uitgerust met nieuwe scanners<\/h4>\n<p>Een eerste test met een bodyscanner zal al in juni plaatsvinden en vanaf volgend jaar zal de luchthaven eerst een extra tijdelijk screeningplatform opzetten dat is uitgerust met de nieuwe bodyscanner voor passagiers en geavanceerde CT-scanners voor handbagage, die zeer gedetailleerde 3D-beelden van de inhoud produceren, waardoor vloeistoffen en elektronica in de tas kunnen blijven. De eerste scanners zullen dan in 2028 in gebruik worden genomen.<\/p>\n<p>Zodra de extra capaciteit operationeel is, zal de huidige apparatuur voor beveiligingsonderzoeken in fasen worden vervangen, zodat er altijd voldoende capaciteit beschikbaar blijft. Tegen 2029 moet de hele zone voor veiligheidscontroles bij vertrek zijn ge\u00fcpgraded met 19 passagiersdoorgangen die zijn uitgerust met nieuwe scanners. In een latere fase zullen nieuwe scanners voor transferpassagiers volgen.<\/p>\n<h4>Lange wachttijden bij de grenscontrole<\/h4>\n<p>\u201cDe veiligheid van onze passagiers en werknemers is altijd onze topprioriteit\u201d, zegt CEO Arnaud Feist. \u201cMet deze nieuwe technologie blijven we niet alleen de veiligheid garanderen, maar maken we het veiligheidscontroleproces ook vlotter en eenvoudiger voor onze passagiers. Tegelijkertijd stellen de nieuwe scanners ons in staat om de capaciteit te vergroten, zodat we voorbereid zijn op de groei van het aantal passagiers in de komende jaren.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De nieuwe CT-scanners en bodyscanners zijn deels een antwoord op de drukte bij de veiligheidscontroles. Omdat reizigers niet langer laptops en vloeistoffen uit hun tassen hoeven te halen, gaat elke individuele controle sneller, waardoor de doorstroming verbetert.<\/p>\n<p>De soms lange wachttijden op Brussels Airport, waarover de laatste tijd veel gediscussieerd wordt, zijn echter niet aan de veiligheidscontrole maar aan de grenscontrole, een federale verantwoordelijkheid, en de nieuwe scanners helpen daar niet bij. Tijdens recente piekperiodes moesten reizigers meer dan twee uur wachten bij vertrek en tot drie uur bij aankomst, waardoor honderden passagiers hun vlucht moesten missen.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens Vlaanderen, de grootste individuele aandeelhouder in de luchthavenexploitant, is dit te wijten aan een structureel capaciteitsprobleem binnen de federale politie, in combinatie met nieuwe Europese controlesystemen zoals het Entry\/Exit System (EES). Minister van Binnenlandse Zaken Bernard Quinten (MR) wijst daarentegen op een infrastructuurprobleem.<\/p>\n<p>De Vlaamse regering heeft in elk geval aan de federale regering gevraagd om ten laatste tegen 30 juni een concreet en tijdgebonden actieplan voor te leggen.
