Mensen kiezen er vaker voor om de trein te nemen omwille van de hoge brandstofprijzen. Dat blijkt uit een enqu\u00eate van de Belgische openbare spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS onder treinreizigers.<\/p>\n

NMBS ziet deze groei in reizigersaantallen ook terug in de cijfers: in maart en april verkocht de spoorwegmaatschappij 10% meer losse tickets en 8 tot 9% meer pendelpassen dan in dezelfde maanden vorig jaar.<\/p>\n

Van de auto naar de trein<\/h4>\n

De versnelling van de passagiersgroei bij NMBS in de afgelopen maanden is vooral te wijten aan de hoge energieprijzen, die sterk zijn gestegen door het uitbreken van de oorlog in het Midden-Oosten.<\/p>\n

In het onderzoek legde de helft van de ondervraagde passagiers \u201ceen expliciet verband tussen hogere brandstofprijzen en hun gebruik van de trein\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n

Het Traffic Center is echter voorzichtig met het trekken van conclusies. Volgens de filecijfers van de afgelopen weken is er geen grote verschuiving zichtbaar.<\/p>\n

En nu we het toch over brandstofprijzen en de energiecrisis hebben: Reizen met de trein is ook beter voor het milieu omdat elke kilometer die met de trein wordt afgelegd ongeveer vijf keer minder CO2 uitstoot dan reizen met de auto. Een EV is zeker schoner dan een benzineauto, maar nog steeds niet zo zuinig als een goed bezette elektrische trein.<\/p>\n

Populaire Train+ kortingskaart<\/h4>\n

De NMBS merkt ook op dat Trein+, de kortingskaart die in oktober werd gelanceerd als onderdeel van het nieuwe vervoersbewijsaanbod, goed blijft presteren. Sinds de lancering kozen al meer dan 1,2 miljoen reizigers voor Train+.<\/p>\n

Train+ wordt momenteel gebruikt voor ongeveer 40% aan incidentele treinreizen. De kaart is vooral populair onder senioren, jongeren en mensen die in aanmerking komen voor een verhoogde subsidie.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
