Vorig jaar registreerde de federale politie 10,1 miljoen verkeersovertredingen in Belgi\u00eb, een nieuw record. Ongeveer 83% van alle geregistreerde verkeersovertredingen waren snelheidsovertredingen.<\/p>\n

In de meeste gevallen gaat het echter om kleine overtredingen met snelheden van 0-10 km\/u boven de limiet. Deze trend is grotendeels toe te schrijven aan het feit dat verkeershandhaving in Belgi\u00eb bijna volledig wordt gedomineerd door geautomatiseerde detectie, zoals gemiddelde snelheidscontroles, vaste camera's en ANPR.<\/p>\n

Opvallend is dat de aantallen in Walloni\u00eb veel sneller stijgen dan in Vlaanderen. Hoewel dit waarschijnlijk ook komt doordat Walloni\u00eb de laatste jaren Vlaanderen aanzienlijk heeft ingehaald op het vlak van gemiddelde snelheidscontroles.<\/p>\n

De overgrote meerderheid reed 0-10 km\/u te hard<\/h4>\n

In 2025 werden in Belgi\u00eb 10.102.839 verkeersovertredingen geregistreerd. Dat cijfer is meer dan verdubbeld in ruwweg acht jaar. De scherpe stijging van de cijfers vond plaats tussen 2021 en 2022, een periode waarin veel steden, gemeenten en overheden begonnen te investeren in geautomatiseerde detectiesystemen.<\/p>\n

Met andere woorden, miljoenen bestuurders begonnen zich niet plotseling roekeloos te gedragen op de weg. Dit kan ook worden afgeleid uit een meer gedetailleerde analyse van de meer dan 10 miljoen verkeersovertredingen. Hiervan waren 8,39 miljoen snelheidsovertredingen en 1,71 miljoen andere overtredingen, maar verreweg de grootste groep is de categorie bestuurders die 0-10 km\/u over de snelheidslimiet reden, namelijk 6.469.408.<\/p>\n

Nog eens 1.425.686 overtreders reden 11-20 km\/u te hard en 347.940 21-30 km\/u te hard. Maar hoge snelheden zijn statistisch gezien een minderheid - 57.419 van de overtreders reden meer dan 40 km\/u te hard.<\/p>\n

Het hoogste aantal snelheidsovertredingen werd ook geregistreerd op de snelweg (2,7 miljoen), gevolgd door regionale wegen (3,3 miljoen) en gemeentelijke wegen (1,7 miljoen).<\/p>\n

Meeste overtredingen gedurende de dag<\/h4>\n

Als we kijken naar overtredingen per categorie, zien we dat deze stabiel zijn gebleven en dat, afgezien van snelheidsovertredingen, het hoogste aantal boetes werd uitgeschreven voor verkeersovertredingen (620.239), stoppen en parkeren (445.500), verkeerslichten negeren (111.126) en mobiel bellen tijdens het rijden (106.686).<\/p>\n

Alcohol- en drugsgebruik waren goed voor respectievelijk 48.426 en 13.755 overtredingen.<\/p>\n

De meeste overtredingen worden nog steeds geregistreerd tijdens de dag\/week (59.44%), gevolgd door de dag\/weekend (28.65%). De nacht\/het weekend is goed voor 6.1%, gevolgd door de nacht\/week (5.82%), terwijl alcoholgerelateerde overtredingen tijdens de nacht\/het weekend goed zijn voor bijna 40%.<\/p>\n

De inhaalslag van Walloni\u00eb<\/h4>\n

Ook op het vlak van het aantal verkeersovertredingen blijft Vlaanderen Walloni\u00eb en het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest voorbijstreven. In Vlaanderen werden in 2025 6.432.555 verkeersovertredingen geregistreerd, tegenover 2.583.226 in Walloni\u00eb en 1.044.185 in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest.<\/p>\n

In Vlaanderen is Antwerpen koploper met meer dan 2,2 miljoen overtredingen, gevolgd door Vlaams-Brabant (1,4 miljoen) en Oost-Vlaanderen (1,3 miljoen). In Walloni\u00eb hebben Henegouwen (meer dan 900.000) en Namen (meer dan 500.000) de hoogste percentages.<\/p>\n

Opvallend is wel dat het aantal verkeersovertredingen in Walloni\u00eb veel sterker is gestegen dan in Vlaanderen. Terwijl de stijging voor Belgi\u00eb 9,96% bedraagt, is het cijfer voor Walloni\u00eb zelfs +16,7%, tegenover +4,5% voor Vlaanderen. Vlaanderen heeft echter al jaren een zeer dicht netwerk van snelheidscontroles en Walloni\u00eb heeft de laatste jaren een aanzienlijke inhaalbeweging gemaakt.<\/p>\n

+200.000 snelheidsovertredingen in Brussel<\/h4>\n

Specifiek in het Brussels Hoofdstedelijk Gewest werden in 2025 maar liefst 200.000 meer snelheidsovertredingen geregistreerd dan in 2024. Met 164.064 snelheidsovertredingen in 2025 voert de regio Ukkel\/Watermaal-Bosvoorde\/Audergem de Brusselse ranglijst aan. Het blijft daarmee voor op Brussel-Hoofdstad\/Elsene (150.805), Brussel-West (123.574), PolBruNo (104.674), Montgomery (98.359) en Zuid (97.689).<\/p>\n

De meeste snelheidsovertredingen werden genoteerd op de Fonsnylaan (meer dan 34.600), de Kroonlaan (meer dan 29.500), gevolgd door de Nieuwpoortlaan\/Boulevard de Nieuport (27.800), de Hallepoorttunnel\/Tunnel de la Porte de Halle (bijna 25,000), Waversesteenweg\/Chauss\u00e9e de Waver (24.166), Stallestraat\/Rue de Stalle (19.891)Ninoofsesteenweg\/Chauss\u00e9e de Ninove en Waterloosesteenweg\/Chauss\u00e9e de Waterloo (beide meer dan 15.400), Picardstraat\/Rue Picard (14.798), en Keizer Karellaan\/Avenue Charles-Quint(13.646).<\/p>\n
