Drie maanden nadat Rolls-Royce stilletjes zijn belofte om tegen 2030 volledig elektrisch te gaan opgaf, frist het zijn enige EV op. De Spectre Series II is geland en het is een echte update, niet alleen een neuscorrectie.<\/p>\n

De onlangs benoemde CEO van Rolls-Royce, Chris Brownridge, verklaarde publiekelijk dat hij terugkwam op de toezegging die zijn voorganger in 2022 had gedaan. Veranderde wetgeving en aanhoudende vraag van klanten naar V12-motoren waren belangrijke factoren van verandering. De EV-only toekomst, zo bleek, was \u201cjuist op dat moment\u201d. Maar nu niet meer. Rolls-Royce voegt zich bij de lange lijst van autofabrikanten die hun elektrische all-in engagement omgooien.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sneller dan normaal<\/h4>\n

De Spectre is altijd de auto geweest die die toekomst zou moeten leiden. En omdat de eerste versies drie jaar geleden op de wereldmarkt verschenen, komt de Series II eerder dan gebruikelijk voor een Rolls-Royce.<\/p>\n

Het belangrijkste cijfer is een geclaimde toename van 18 procent in actieradius, waardoor de Spectre Series II een actieradius heeft van 628 kilometer volgens de WLTP-cyclus. Deze toename is te danken aan de herziene batterijceltechnologie en niet aan een groter pakket. De oplaadtijd is met 14% verkort, hoewel de exacte cijfers in kW nog niet bekend zijn gemaakt. \u201cAls je het echt wilt weten, kun je je deze auto waarschijnlijk niet veroorloven\u201d, was vroeger het gebruikelijke antwoord van het merk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ook het vermogen gaat omhoog. De standaardversie levert nu 593 pk en het koppel stijgt naar 1.015 Nm. Ter informatie: de uitgaande Black Badge leverde 660 pk en 1.075 Nm en werd aangekondigd als de krachtigste Rolls-Royce ooit gemaakt.<\/p>\n

Die titel is nu uiteraard weggelegd voor de Black Badge Spectre Series II. In de modus Infinity levert hij 671 pk en in de modus Spirited wordt 1.100 Nm koppel vrijgegeven. Maar vergis je niet. Prestaties zijn in dit geval een neveneffect. Stilte en moeiteloosheid blijven het uitgangspunt.<\/p>\n

Details<\/h4>\n

Rolls-Royce heeft er bewust voor gekozen om de gesplitste koplampen, de strakke lijnen en de vloeiende daklijn te behouden. Het merk zegt dat de Spectre door jury's wereldwijd is uitgeroepen tot een van de elegantste auto's uit zijn tijdperk, en het ziet geen reden om dat tegen te spreken.<\/p>\n

Wat wel is veranderd, zijn de details. Het palet is uitgebreid met een nieuwe lak met de naam Ethereal Blue. Er zijn nieuwe 23-inch gesmede lichtmetalen velgen met meerspaaks design, die elk tot zes uur met de hand zijn afgewerkt om de scherpe, diamantachtige oppervlakken te verkrijgen.<\/p>\n

De Black Badge-versie krijgt zijn eigen nieuwe look met de naam Iced Black. Bijna al het chroomwerk - grille surround, sideframe finishers, deurgrepen, Spirit of Ecstasy, enzovoort - krijgt een matte satijnen afwerking via een speciaal ontwikkelde blanke lak. Maar de grille van de Pantheon blijft gepolijst, waardoor hij herkenbaar is als een Rolls-Royce.<\/p>\n

Van bamboe tot glasvlokken<\/h4>\n

Spectre is een van de meest populaire Bespoke kandidaten in de Goodwood line-up, op de tweede plaats na de Phantom. De Series II breidt dat personalisatiepalet aanzienlijk uit.<\/p>\n

Nieuw in het interieur is Duality Twill, een rayonstof geweven van bamboe. De inspiratiebron is een bamboebos aan de C\u00f4te d'Azur dat grenst aan Villa Mimosa, het voormalige winterverblijf van Sir Henry Royce. Er is ook Placed Perforation leer, waar nauwkeurig uitgesneden gaatjes een maanverlicht wolkenpatroon cre\u00ebren op de schouders en hoofdsteunen van alle vier de stoelen. De getallen tellen hier, want het patroon maakt gebruik van 78.138 individuele perforaties in drie maten.<\/p>\n

De lijst gaat maar door. Een nieuw walnootfineer van niet-vruchtdragende bomen, gecombineerd met eucalyptusvezelresten van papierproductie, produceert wat het merk een \u201ctijgerstreep\u201d-patroon noemt, verzegeld onder een lak met \u2018glasvlokken\u2019. Het vangt licht vanuit verschillende hoeken op een manier die het fineer driedimensionaal doet lijken.<\/p>\n

Oh ja, en misschien wel de belangrijkste upgrade is de nieuwe klok, ge\u00efnspireerd op luchtvaartinstrumenten. Meer dan in welke andere Rolls dan ook, is het horen tikken van de klok het enige geluid dat binnen is toegestaan.<\/p>\n

Dalende verkoopcijfers?<\/h4>\n

In tegenstelling tot andere luxemerken - die vaak meer prestatiegericht zijn - zou dit kunnen verklaren waarom de Spectre het redelijk goed deed onder de klanten van Goodwood. Vorig jaar was het het op \u00e9\u00e9n na best verkochte model wereldwijd, achter de Cullinan. Toch geven onoffici\u00eble cijfers van het merk zelf aan dat de verkoop vorig jaar met 47% daalde tot 1.002 eenheden.<\/p>\n

Ondanks dat relatieve succes en de trend om elektrische modellen om te bouwen naar verbrandingsmotoren, zoals Porsche van plan is, zit er geen V12 voor Spectre in de pijplijn. De nieuwe CEO zou de focus op de aandrijflijn voor de nabije toekomst kunnen omkeren, maar het valt niet te ontkennen dat Rolls-Royce nog steeds de beste kaarten heeft voor elektrificatie dan welke andere luxe autofabrikant dan ook.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
