Volgens de studie is de kloof tussen de werkelijke en gecertificeerde uitstoot bijzonder groot voor plug-in hybrides in vergelijking met andere aandrijflijntypes, en blijft die kloof groter worden.<\/p>\n<div class=\"posts__single has-layout-reset is-format-standard\">\n<div class=\"posts__single__meta\">\n<div class=\"sidebar\">\n<div class=\"c-interactions\">\n<div class=\"content\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Europa waren plug-in hybrides goed voor 9% van alle nieuwe inschrijvingen van personenauto's in 2025. Plug-in hybrides kunnen zowel elektrisch als door een verbrandingsmotor worden aangedreven. \u201cHoewel autofabrikanten deze veelzijdigheid op de markt brengen als een overwinning voor zowel consumenten als het klimaat, hebben meerdere rapporten de betrouwbaarheid van offici\u00eble cijfers over brandstofverbruik en CO2-uitstoot betwist,\u201d stelt de ICCT in haar studie.<\/p>\n<p>Het probleem: wanneer plug-in hybrides niet regelmatig worden opgeladen, verbruiken ze aanzienlijk meer brandstof omdat de hybride aandrijflijn ze relatief zwaar maakt. De ICCT kwantificeert dit probleem nu met nieuwe gegevens: \u201cDe kloof tussen de werkelijke en offici\u00eble emissiewaarden groeide van 265% in 2021 tot 400% in 2023, gemiddeld over alle fabrikanten,\u201d aldus de ICCT-onderzoekers.<\/p>\n<h4>Drie oorzakelijke factoren<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In de kern identificeert de ICCT drie factoren die de CO\u2082-balans van plug-in hybrides ondermijnen: Ten eerste worden de voertuigen minder vaak opgeladen dan verwacht en wordt de elektrische modus minder gebruikt dan theoretisch wordt aangenomen bij de berekening van de CO\u2082-uitstoot.<\/p>\n<p>Ten tweede ondersteunt de verbrandingsmotor vaak de elektromotor, zelfs tijdens \u2018puur elektrisch rijden\u2019. En ten derde verhoogt het gewicht van twee aandrijflijnen de totale energiebehoefte.<\/p>\n<p>De conclusie: fabrikanten melden al jaren te lage CO\u2082-emissies voor hun plug-in hybrides, en deze aandrijflijn springt er extreem uit in vergelijking met andere aandrijvingstypen. Volgens berekeningen van ICCT staat het \u2018gat\u2019 gelijk aan ongeveer 100 megaton CO\u2082-uitstoot van nieuwe registraties tussen 2021 en 2025, uitstoot die is verdisconteerd in de CO\u2082-reductiedoelstellingen van de EU zonder daadwerkelijk te worden bespaard.<\/p>\n<p>Om deze emissiekloof te schatten, baseerde de ICCT zich op haar eigen analyses van plug-in hybrides en op registratiegegevens van het Europees Milieuagentschap, waarbij \u2018een verondersteld kilometrage van 240.000 kilometer gedurende de levensduur in overeenstemming met de standaard ICCT-methodologie\u2019 werd toegepast. Het werkelijke emissieverschil bedroeg gemiddeld 99 g CO\u2082\/km tussen 2021 en 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Bovendien: \u201cDe real-world gap bedroeg gemiddeld 99 g CO2\/km in de periode 2021-2023, en met ruwweg 840.000 nieuwe PHEV's die jaarlijks in de EER worden geregistreerd, komt dit neer op ongeveer 20 megaton niet verantwoorde CO<sub>2<\/sub> per jaar, in totaal ongeveer 100 megaton in de periode 2021-2025, wat overeenkomt met ongeveer 42 miljard liter extra verbruikte brandstof.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4>\u2018Een schokkend grote kloof\u2019<\/h4>\n<p>De studie analyseerde 8 miljoen voertuigen, waaronder conventionele benzine- en dieselauto's en hun hybride varianten. Hoewel de offici\u00eble en werkelijke waarden ook uiteenlopen voor normale verbrandingsmotoren, is de discrepantie veel minder uitgesproken dan voor parttime elektrische voertuigen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDe achterstand van plug-in hybrides is schokkend hoog, maar dit mag ons niet afleiden van het feit dat de achterstand van conventionele voertuigen, die nog steeds de meerderheid van de autoverkopen in de EU uitmaken, met 20% ook aanzienlijk hoog is. Als gevolg daarvan hebben we de afgelopen jaren geen noemenswaardige vermindering van de werkelijke CO2-uitstoot van voertuigen met een verbrandingsmotor gezien,\u201d legt Jan Dornoff, senior onderzoeker bij de ICCT en co-auteur van het onderzoek, uit.<\/p>\n<p>Voor alle aandrijvingstypes daalde de officieel gerapporteerde CO\u2082-uitstoot voor nieuwe auto's in Europa tussen 2018 en 2023 met 28%, terwijl de werkelijke uitstoot met slechts 15% daalde, volgens de ICCT. Zoals verwacht leverden batterij-elektrische voertuigen de grootste bijdrage. Tenzij regelgevende instanties deze tekortkoming aanpakken, zullen autofabrikanten emissies blijven rapporteren die veel lager zijn dan de emissies die in de praktijk worden geproduceerd,\u201d waarschuwde Sonsoles D\u00edaz, ICCT Senior Researcher.<\/p>\n<h4>Toekomstige correcties<\/h4>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De Europese Commissie heeft het probleem nu onderkend. In 2025 is de berekeningsformule voor de zogenaamde nutsfactor aangepast om realistischere schattingen mogelijk te maken. Een verdere correctie is gepland voor 2027. Over de CO\u2082-reductiedoelstellingen van de EU voor personenauto's en lichte bedrijfsvoertuigen wordt momenteel echter opnieuw onderhandeld in het Europees Parlement, en in een voorontwerp wordt voorgesteld om toekomstige correcties op te schorten.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr. Peter Mock, Europees directeur van de ICCT, zegt hierover: \u201cZelfs met de correctie voor 2025 worden de emissies op de weg niet nauwkeurig geschat. En de zorgwekkende trend is dat nieuwe modellen niet minder uitstoten, maar juist meer. Zelfs als autofabrikanten beweren dat consumenten meer kilometers rijden in elektrische modus, is de realiteit iets anders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>De oorspronkelijke titel van de nieuwe studie is \u2018Op weg naar \u2018echte\u2019 CO\u2082-waarden? Evidence from 2021-2023 on-board fuel consumption monitoring data in the European passenger car market\u2019.
