Niet solid-state (hoewel dat ook aan de beurt is). Niet natrium-ion (dat dit jaar al in massaproductie gaat).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Het batterijbedrijf dat deze overgang correct heeft voorspeld en gepusht, zegt nu dat het echte eindspel een batterij is die zuurstof uit de atmosfeer gebruikt als kernelektrodemateriaal. Als CATL dat zegt, kunnen we maar beter luisteren.<\/p>\n<h4>Het volgende grote ding<\/h4>\n<p>Ook al is het een aankondiging die niemand echt had verwacht. Op het 2026 Powering the Nation Forum legde CATL-hoofdwetenschapper Wu Kai een drieledige technologische routekaart uit. Natrium-ion: in serieproductie tegen het einde van dit jaar. Solid-state: productie in kleine series vanaf 2027. Maar daarna is lithium-lucht het volgende grote ding.<\/p>\n<p>Volgens de media CarNewsChina is het de eerste keer dat CATL de technologie publiekelijk benoemt als een strategische richting. En het bedrijf heeft wel degelijk een soort kristallen bol - hoewel richtingen gemakkelijker te sturen zijn als je het zwaargewicht in je sector bent. In 2020 deed CATL een identieke oproep over natrium-ionchemie. Iedereen dacht dat het bijzaak was, maar de batterijfabrikant kwam zijn belofte na. Precies op schema.<\/p>\n<h4>Ongelooflijk gewichtsvoordeel<\/h4>\n<p>Zoals de naam al aangeeft, vervangt een lithium-luchtaccu zijn kathode door zuurstof die rechtstreeks uit de omgevingslucht wordt gehaald. Dit in tegenstelling tot conventionele lithium-ion-accu's, die zware metaalverbindingen gebruiken aan de kathode (NMC of nikkel, mangaan en kobalt) om lithiumionen te bevatten tijdens het fietsen. Je zou kunnen zeggen dat de batterij \u2018ademt\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Omdat er geen schaarse metalen zijn bij de kathode, is de aanvoer van kritieke materialen veel minder kritisch. Het vermindert de noodzaak om door geopolitieke spanningen te navigeren en het gewichtsvoordeel is niet minder dan dramatisch.<\/p>\n<p>Laboratoriumprototypes hebben al 1.200 Wh\/kg bereikt, wat verbazingwekkend vier keer zoveel is als de huidige lithium-ioncellen. Het theoretische plafond is 12.000 Wh\/kg, wat direct vergelijkbaar is met benzine (13.000 Wh\/kg). Om dat in een voorbeeld te vertalen: een accupakket dat slechts 70 kg weegt, kan een actieradius van 500 kilometer bieden. Een benzinemotor die een dergelijke actieradius biedt, weegt twee keer zoveel.<\/p>\n<h4>Een uitvinding uit de jaren zeventig<\/h4>\n<p>Lithium-lucht kan zowel in vloeibare als in vaste toestand bestaan. Maar het is de laatste die een doorbraak forceerde, aangezien vloeibare elektrolyten de neiging hebben om te ontbinden door zuurstofbijproducten tijdens de reactie. Het Amerikaanse laboratorium Argonne\/IIT bereikte 1.200 Wh\/kg door vaste en vloeibare stoffen te combineren. Het pakket overleefde meer dan 1000 laadcycli bij kamertemperatuur, wat fungeert als de praktische duurzaamheidsdrempel voor autotoepassingen.<\/p>\n<p>Lucht als kathode is een vrij oud concept, dat teruggaat tot de jaren 1970. IBM probeerde de technologie te fabriceren, maar zette het programma zo'n vijftien jaar geleden stilletjes in de ijskast. Nu brengt het resultaat van 1000 cycli de technologie van \u201ctheoretisch interessant\u201d naar \u201ceen serieuze industri\u00eble investering waard\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Als lithium-lucht zelfs maar een fractie van de laboratoriumprestaties haalt, wordt een voertuigbereik van meer dan 1.600 km realistisch. Dat is allemaal niet gegarandeerd. Maar CATL is geen onderzoeksgroep die op zoek is naar financiering.
