Stellantis is een samenwerking aangegaan met Bolt en Pony.ai om robotaxiritten aan te bieden in Luxemburg. Niet alleen in de stad, maar in het hele land. Naast andere proefprojecten, vari\u00ebrend van Zagreb en M\u00fcnchen tot Londen, lijkt 2026 het jaar te worden waarin robotaxi\u2019s eindelijk hun intrede doen in Europa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Luxemburg is een klein land, maar blijkbaar heeft het een grote drang om te experimenteren met regelgeving. Het Groothertogdom werkt al sinds minstens 2025 aan een nationaal kader voor geautomatiseerd rijden en positioneert zich als wat de partners een \u201cLiving Lab\u201d voor autonome mobiliteit noemen. Met andere woorden, een plek waar nieuwe technologie kan worden getest in het echte verkeer, met echte passagiers, onder echt toezicht van de regelgevende instanties.<\/p>\n

Met veiligheidscoureur<\/h4>\n

Stellantis laat de kansen die dit offici\u00eble kader biedt niet aan zich voorbijgaan. Het bedrijf gaat samenwerken met de Chinese specialist op het gebied van autonoom rijden, Pony.ai, en met Bolt \u2013 de grootste concurrent van Uber \u2013 om een proefproject met robotaxi\u2019s te lanceren. Het doel, dat duidelijk in het persbericht wordt vermeld, is om tegen het einde van de testperiode volledig zelfrijdend te zijn. Deze testperiode duurt een jaar.<\/p>\n

Voor alle duidelijkheid: het project beperkt zich niet tot de hoofdstad van Luxemburg, maar strekt zich uit tot aan de landsgrenzen. Dit gebeurt geleidelijk. De eerste proeven gaan van start in het stadje Bissen, waarna het projectgebied wordt uitgebreid.<\/p>\n

Dit zorgt voor een afgeschermde omgeving waarin deze automatische taxipiloot, de eerste in zijn soort in Luxemburg, kan worden getest zonder de drukte van een bruisende hoofdstad. Er is altijd een veiligheidsbestuurder aan boord.<\/p>\n

Voor Pony.ai in het bijzonder vormt dit het volgende hoofdstuk in zijn strategie, waarbij het bedrijf het steeds gunstiger wordende regelgevingsklimaat in Europa als springplank gebruikt. Het Chinese bedrijf voert al praktijktests uit in Zagreb, Kroati\u00eb, in het kader van een afzonderlijk samenwerkingsverband met Uber en de Kroatische start-up Verne. Luxemburg is de volgende halte op die route.<\/p>\n

Het gaat om de middelgrote bestelwagen Peugeot Expert. Deze is gebouwd op het L4-Ready-platform van Stellantis, een modulaire architectuur die de autofabrikant heeft ontwikkeld als basis voor autonome oplossingen van niveau 4.<\/p>\n

Break-even<\/h4>\n

Het systeem voor autonoom rijden is de zevende generatie (Gen-7) van Pony.ai, dezelfde generatie die het bedrijf momenteel in China op grote schaal implementeert. Het programma zal de veiligheid, prestaties en naleving van de regelgeving onder re\u00eble Luxemburgse verkeersomstandigheden testen.<\/p>\n

Pony.ai zorgt dus voor de besturingssoftware voor autonoom rijden, Bolt beheert het platform voor het boeken van ritten en de wagenparkactiviteiten, terwijl Stellantis de hardware en de productie-expertise levert.<\/p>\n

Belangrijk is dat de Gen-7-robotaxi\u2019s van Pony.ai in hun thuisland al break-even draaien. Het is het enige bedrijf op het gebied van autonoom rijden dat openlijk heeft verklaard commercieel levensvatbaar te zijn en de eigen kosten per rit te dekken. Wereldwijd streeft het Chinese bedrijf naar een vloot van meer dan 3.000 robotaxi's in 2026, een stijging ten opzichte van ongeveer 1.000 aan het einde van 2025.<\/p>\n

Voor Bolt en Stellantis is dit hun eerste robotaxiproject. Voor de Amerikaanse markt heeft de autogigant een overeenkomst gesloten met Nvidia en Uber.
