Het in Antwerpen gevestigde bouwbedrijf Smulders zal meewerken aan de bouw van een stroomafgiftepunt in de Noordzee voor de Duitse netbeheerder 50Hertz, een dochteronderneming van het Belgische hoogspanningsconcern Elia.<\/p>\n

De offshore-stroomverbinding, bekend als \u2018North Sea Connector 2\u2019, zal het mogelijk maken om tot 2 gigawatt aan windenergie naar de kust te transporteren. Naar verwachting zal het project eind 2034 voltooid zijn.<\/p>\n

Verantwoordelijk voor de stalen fundering<\/h4>\n

Smulders, een bedrijf gevestigd in Arendonk, nabij Antwerpen, onder leiding van David Muylaert, zal verantwoordelijk zijn voor de stalen fundering van het offshoreplatform. Deze zal worden gebouwd op de Smulders-scheepswerf in Vlissingen, Nederland.<\/p>\n

Op het platform wordt wisselstroom (AC) van offshore windturbines omgezet in gelijkstroom (DC). Deze elektriciteit wordt vervolgens via onderzeese kabels naar het vasteland getransporteerd, waar ze door een andere transformator weer wordt omgezet in wisselstroom en in het elektriciteitsnet wordt gevoerd.<\/p>\n

Bekend terrein voor Smulders<\/h4>\n

Het project \u2018North Sea Connector 2\u2019 wordt uitgevoerd door een consortium in opdracht van 50Hertz. Het consortium bestaat uit het Duitse bedrijf Siemens Energy en Neptun Smulders Offshore Renewables (NSORe), een joint venture tussen de Duitse scheepswerf Neptun Werft en Smulders, een bedrijf dat deel uitmaakt van de Franse groep Eiffage en ongeveer 2.400 mensen in dienst heeft.<\/p>\n

Smulders is geen onbekende in dit soort projecten: in een joint venture met HSM Offshore Energy en Iv kreeg het bedrijf ook de opdracht toegewezen voor Princess Elisabeth Island, \u2019s werelds eerste kunstmatige energie-eiland voor de Belgische kust, door netbeheerder Elia.<\/p>\n

500 vaste banen<\/h4>\n

50Hertz is nog steeds in onderhandeling met NSORe over een tweede, soortgelijk platform. Beide projecten samen \u2013 die beide deel uitmaken van NordOstLink en die bij de deelnemende bedrijven en toeleveranciers in de Duitse deelstaat meer dan 500 vaste banen zouden kunnen opleveren \u2013 zouden voor NSORe een bedrag van ongeveer 2,5 miljard euro vertegenwoordigen.<\/p>\n

50Hertz is de netbeheerder voor het elektriciteitstransmissienet in Noordoost-Duitsland (Berlijn, Brandenburg, Hamburg, Mecklenburg\u2026) en is voor ongeveer 80% in handen van de Elia Group.<\/p>\n

De NordOstLink is een van de grootste en meest ambitieuze energie-infrastructuurprojecten van Duitsland. Het bestaat uit een offshore-verbindingssysteem in combinatie met een hoogspanningsleiding op het vasteland.<\/p>\n

Het zal windenergie over een afstand van ongeveer 200 kilometer transporteren van de westkust van Sleeswijk-Holstein naar Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, waar het conversiestation aan land in de buurt zal worden gevestigd.<\/p>\n
