De Het in Genk gevestigde transport- en logistieke bedrijf H.Essers neemt het Amerikaanse bedrijf Palmer over, een toonaangevende aanbieder van opslagdiensten voor chemische producten en logistieke diensten met toegevoegde waarde. Financi\u00eble details van de transactie zijn niet bekendgemaakt.<\/span><\/p>\n

Met deze overname versterkt H.Essers zijn aanbod aan trans-Atlantische diensten en breidt het zijn eigen operationele aanwezigheid in de chemische sector verder uit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Door deze fusie vestigt H.Essers zich voor het eerst in de Verenigde Staten, met de uitgesproken ambitie om de omzet in de VS binnen vijf jaar te laten groeien van de huidige ongeveer $70 miljoen naar $300 miljoen. <\/span><\/p>\n

Opgericht in 1965<\/h4>\n

Palmer,<\/span> opgericht in 1965, is tevens een familiebedrijf. Het bedrijf <\/span>beschikt over 14 vestigingen, met in totaal 300.000 vierkante meter aan magazijnruimte, voornamelijk in Texas en Louisiana langs de Golf van Mexico. Deze regio vormt het belangrijkste cluster voor de chemische productie in de Verenigde Staten.<\/span><\/p>\n

Veel van de Europese klanten van H.Essers uit de chemische industrie zijn al actief in de Verenigde Staten, en de VS worden een steeds belangrijker knooppunt voor de chemische sector. <\/span><\/p>\n

De Europese chemische industrie heeft te maken gehad met een zwakke vraag, hoge energiekosten en druk op het concurrentievermogen, terwijl de VS hun voordelen op het gebied van energie- en grondstofkosten hebben behouden. <\/span><\/p>\n

Met Palmer zorgen we ervoor dat we ook in de VS voor hen klaarstaan, met de specialisatie, schaalgrootte en operationele expertise die ze van ons verwachten.\u201d<\/p>\n

Verhuizing naar de andere kant van de Atlantische Oceaan<\/h4>\n

Alle 350 medewerkers van Palmer worden overgenomen en ook het managementteam blijft aan. De integratie zal in fasen plaatsvinden en de merknaam zal uiteindelijk worden ge\u00efntegreerd in H.Essers.<\/span><\/p>\n

H.Essers is niet het eerste Belgische logistieke bedrijf dat voet aan de grond krijgt in de Verenigde Staten, noch de eerste Belgische speler die actief is in de Amerikaanse chemische logistieke sector. Maar voor een familiebedrijf van deze omvang, dat zich richt op Europa en actief is op het gebied van transport en opslag, is dit een bijzonder belangrijke stap over de Atlantische Oceaan.<\/p>\n

Familiebedrijven<\/h4>\n

Beide bedrijven delen vergelijkbare waarden, zoals ondernemerschap, betrouwbaarheid, respect en een langetermijnvisie. Als familiebedrijven nemen ze beslissingen met het oog op de volgende generatie, en niet alleen op het komende kwartaal. Dit zorgt voor een integratie waarbij mensen, lokale expertise en ondernemingsgeest centraal staan.<\/p>\n

Voor H.Essers is de overname van Palmer geen speculatieve uitstap naar de Amerikaanse markt, maar een poging om, naast Europese klanten uit de chemische sector, een directe operationele aanwezigheid op te bouwen aan de Amerikaanse Golfkust, in een regio waar de eveneens Belgische logistieke groep Katoen Natie al heeft aangetoond hoe groot de kansen daar zijn.<\/p>\n

Vervoer en opslag<\/h4>\n

H.Essers is gespecialiseerd in het vervoer over de weg, over water en per spoor, evenals in de verwerking en opslag van chemicali\u00ebn en farmaceutische producten \u2013 sectoren waarin hoge eisen worden gesteld aan veiligheid, betrouwbaarheid en serviceniveau. <\/span><\/p>\n

Naast speciale chemicali\u00ebn vervoert en verwerkt het bedrijf ook basischemicali\u00ebn voor industriereuzen zoals Evonik, DuPont en Dow Chemical. <\/span>Producten die aan het begin staan van een lange waardeketen in een breed scala aan sectoren \u2013 van voedingsmiddelen en geneesmiddelen tot metaalverwerking en automobielassemblage, maar ook schoonheids- en hygi\u00ebneproducten.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
