Renault is blijkbaar van plan om zijn fabriek in Palencia, Spanje, vanaf 2028 uit te breiden tot een productielocatie voor drie elektrische SUV\u2019s. Naast de nieuwe Renault Rafale en de Scenic zal daar naar verwachting ook de volgende generatie van de elektrische Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross van de band rollen.<\/p>\n

Het nieuws werd bekendgemaakt door het Spaanse vakblad La Tribuna de Automoci\u00f3n, dat zich baseert op bronnen uit de sector die op de hoogte zijn van de productieplannen. Het blad meldt dat de productie van de nieuwe Renault Rafale in juni 2028 in Palencia van start zal gaan.<\/p>\n

De nieuwe Renault Scenic zal naar verwachting in april 2029 volgen, terwijl de volgende generatie van de volledig elektrische Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in juli 2029 in productie zal gaan. De huidige generatie van de Eclipse Cross wordt sinds eind 2025 samen met de Scenic geproduceerd in de Renault-fabriek in Douai, Frankrijk. Door de drie elektrische SUV\u2019s in Palencia te produceren, wil Renault de productie ervan bundelen in het kader van zijn \u2018Vijfde Industri\u00eble Plan voor Spanje\u2019.<\/p>\n

In totaal vier SUV\u2019s<\/h4>\n

Deze plannen geven meer details over eerdere aankondigingen over de toekomst van de fabriek. In het nieuwste rapport worden nu de volgende generaties van de Scenic en de Rafale genoemd, evenals de volledig elektrische Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, die voor het eerst als derde model wordt genoemd.<\/p>\n

Volgens La Tribuna de Automoci\u00f3n verwacht Renault over een periode van zes jaar een gemiddelde jaarlijkse productie van ongeveer 150.000 eenheden voor de drie elektrische voertuigen. Het grootste aandeel zal naar verwachting voor rekening komen van de Scenic en de Eclipse Cross, met een gezamenlijk totaal van ongeveer 544.000 voertuigen, terwijl de Rafale naar verwachting goed zal zijn voor ongeveer 335.000 eenheden.<\/p>\n

Tegelijkertijd blijft de fabriek de Renault Austral produceren. Voor 2028 staat een facelift van de SUV op het programma, waarbij naast de bestaande hybride aandrijflijnen mogelijk ook een aandrijflijn met range extender wordt ge\u00efntroduceerd. Volgens de productieprognoses zou de fabriek vanaf 2029 weer in twee ploegen kunnen gaan draaien.<\/p>\n

Diversificatie van de productie<\/h4>\n

Door nog meer EV-modellen naar Spanje te verplaatsen, wil Renault zijn productiestrategie diversifi\u00ebren. Tot nu toe werden de volledig elektrische personenauto\u2019s van het merk voornamelijk geproduceerd binnen het ElectriCity-productienetwerk in Noord-Frankrijk, met de fabriek in Douai als middelpunt.<\/p>\n

Het is logisch om de drie elektrische SUV\u2019s van de volgende generatie \u2013 de Rafale, de Scenic en de Eclipse Cross \u2013 op \u00e9\u00e9n locatie te produceren, aangezien ze alle drie zullen worden gebaseerd op het nieuwe RGEV medium 2.0-platform. De nieuwe CEO van Renault, Fran\u00e7ois Provost, heeft dit platform in maart ge\u00efntroduceerd, samen met de Strategieplan futuREAdy<\/a>. Volgens dit stappenplan streeft Renault ernaar om tegen 2030 36 nieuwe modellen op de markt te brengen. Daarvan zijn er 22 gepland voor Europa alleen, waarvan 16 volledig elektrisch zijn.<\/p>\n

Nieuw platform is van cruciaal belang<\/h4>\n

Het RGEV Medium 2.0-platform zal een centrale rol gaan spelen. In tegenstelling tot de huidige EV-platforms van Renault gaat het hier om een 800-volt-architectuur die is ontworpen voor voertuigen uit de segmenten B+ tot en met D. Het platform is bovendien zeer flexibel en geschikt voor alle carrosserievarianten, van sedans tot SUV\u2019s en bestelwagens\/MPV\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Het is bovendien ontworpen om tegen 2030 \u201cultrasnel opladen in slechts tien minuten\u201d mogelijk te maken. De accu beschikt over een 'cell-to-body'-architectuur met een pakkingseffici\u00ebntie van 70%. Het accupakket is zo ontworpen dat er 20% minder componenten nodig zijn en is compatibel met prismatische cellen, blade-cellen en pouch-cellen, een ongebruikelijke combinatie voor 'cell-to-body'-concepten.<\/p>\n

Renault heeft de beoogde energiecapaciteit van deze accu\u2019s nog niet bekendgemaakt, maar de actieradius zal naar verwachting oplopen tot 750 kilometer volgens de WLTP-cyclus voor de volledig elektrische uitvoeringen.<\/p>\n

Renault richt zich op twee soorten batterijchemie: \u00e9\u00e9n met een hoge energiedichtheid \u201cvoor modellen met hoge prestaties en\/of een zeer groot bereik\u201d, en een kosteneffici\u00ebnte chemie voor kleine auto\u2019s en varianten met een standaardbereik, waarschijnlijk LFP. De meer betaalbare celchemie zal naar verwachting ook worden gebruikt in het RGEV Medium 2.0-platform, waardoor \u2018grote actieradiussen\u2019 en korte oplaadtijden mogelijk worden.<\/p>\n

Elektromotor van de derde generatie<\/h4>\n

Daarnaast ontwikkelt Renault een nieuwe elektromotor van de derde generatie zonder zeldzame aardmetalen: een elektrisch bekrachtigde synchrone machine. \u201cMet een rendement van 93% op de snelweg en 25% meer vermogen zal deze motor van 202 kW\/275 hp in eigen beheer worden ontwikkeld en gebouwd, en beschikbaar zijn in zowel voor- als achterwielaangedreven versies\u201d, aldus het bedrijf. \u201cIn combinatie met innovatieve, schaalbare \u20187-in-1\u2019-vermogenselektronica zal deze motor 20% minder kosten dan de vorige generatie.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bovendien zal het platform naar verwachting aandrijflijnen met een range extender ondersteunen, waarmee een actieradius tot 1.400 km kan worden bereikt bij een CO\u2082-uitstoot van minder dan 25 gram per km. Dit wordt ook bevestigd door La Tribuna de Automoci\u00f3n, dat daarbij naar zijn bronnen verwijst.
