De Belgische retailgroep Colruyt verkoopt een meerderheidsbelang in zijn in eigen beheer ontwikkelde autonome pallettrucks. De koper van 70% van Colruyts onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsactiviteiten op het gebied van autonome pallettrucks is KION, een Duitse vorkheftruckspecialist die al gedeeltelijk bij het project betrokken was.<\/p>\n

Het gaat hier namelijk om een strategisch partnerschap waarbij Colruyt KION heeft gekozen als zijn voorkeurspartner wereldwijd om zijn meest geavanceerde SDV-technologie op de markt te brengen.<\/p>\n

Het exacte bedrag dat KION betaalt, is niet bekend. Colruyt geeft echter aan dat de transactie naar verwachting 20 miljoen euro zal bijdragen aan het nettoresultaat in het lopende boekjaar.<\/p>\n

Vroeg partnerschap met het KION-merk STILL<\/h4>\n

Smart Innovation, het innovatieteam van Colruyt dat verantwoordelijk is voor het ontwikkelen van concepten voor de eigen winkels van het bedrijf, zoals het \u2018easy check-out\u2019-systeem en het slimme winkelwagentje, heeft de SDV\u2019s oorspronkelijk ontwikkeld om de eigen distributiecentra effici\u00ebnter te maken, omdat er destijds geen geschikte vrachtwagen op de markt was die aan al hun eisen voldeed.<\/p>\n

Daartoe is Colruyt een samenwerking aangegaan met STILL, een merk van KION: Colruyt ontwikkelde de software, terwijl STILL de hardware-integratie voor zijn rekening nam.<\/p>\n

In 2023 begon Colruyt de apparatuur in te zetten om deze te testen en te verfijnen, en later ook voor taken zoals het laden en lossen van vrachtwagens. De autonome STILL-pallettrucks werken nu al twee jaar probleemloos samen met de logistieke teams in twee distributiecentra.<\/p>\n

Grootschalige commercialisering<\/h4>\n

Maar omdat Colruyt in de eerste plaats een detailhandelaar is \u2013 en geen technologiebedrijf dat gespecialiseerd is in de wereldwijde marketing en productie van robotica \u2013 heeft het nu een overeenkomst gesloten met KION.<\/p>\n

Colruyt behoudt een belang van 30%, en het innovatieteam, dat in Haasrode is gevestigd en uit 15 mensen bestaat, zal zowel de huidige als de toekomstige ontwikkelingen blijven aansturen.<\/p>\n

KION neemt op zijn beurt 70% van Colruyts onderzoeks- en ontwikkelingsactiviteiten op het gebied van zelfrijdende pallettrucks over, met als doel de technologie nu op grote schaal op de markt te brengen \u201cin Europa, het Midden-Oosten en Afrika\u201d.\u201d<\/p>\n

Volgens Colruyt is KION dankzij zijn wereldwijde aanwezigheid en expertise \u201cuitstekend gepositioneerd\u201d. De Duitse groep \u201cziet een groot potentieel in deze innovatieve oplossingen, niet alleen in de detailhandel, maar ook ver daarbuiten, in tal van andere sectoren.\u201d<\/p>\n

Er zijn al SDV\u2019s verkocht aan bedrijven in binnen- en buitenland, waaronder de Belgische logistieke gigant H.Essers.<\/p>\n

Eind 2024 opende KION een automatiseringscentrum in Antwerpen, waar meer dan 400 mensen werkzaam zijn. Daar worden de zelfrijdende pallettrucks geassembleerd. In 2025 behaalde KION een omzet van ongeveer 11,3 miljard euro en had het bedrijf meer dan 42.000 mensen in dienst.<\/p>\n

Speciaal afgestemd op de logistiek in de detailhandel<\/h4>\n

De SDV van Colruyts\/KION vertoont geen grote technologische innovaties in vergelijking met spelers als MiR, Geekplus of Filics. LIDAR + SLAM-navigatie zonder fysieke infrastructuur is immers inmiddels standaardtechnologie in de sector.<\/p>\n

Autonoom laden en lossen van vrachtwagenaanhangwagens bestaat al en wordt commercieel toegepast, bijvoorbeeld door Fox Robotics en Navflex. KION werkt zelf al samen met Fox Robotics in Noord-Amerika en heeft onlangs een 35%-belang genomen in ZIKOO, een Chinese specialist op het gebied van robotica voor palletopslag.<\/p>\n

Maar waar hun autonome pallettrucks zich onderscheiden van de concurrentie, is dat ze specifiek zijn afgestemd op de logistiek in de detailhandel: ze kunnen zowel europallets als blokpallets verwerken en passen naadloos in een drukke distribentieomgeving in de detailhandel met veel menselijke collega\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Deskundigen beschouwen de overeenkomst met Colruyt als een mooie, gegarandeerde kapitaalinjectie, in tegenstelling tot de onzekerheid die gepaard gaat met het zelfstandig opzetten van een wereldwijde commercialisering. Tegelijkertijd stelt hun belang in 30% hen in staat om mede-eigenaar en mede-ontwikkelaar te blijven, wat betekent dat ze zullen profiteren als de technologie wereldwijd wordt verkocht.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
