De Belgische nationale spoorwegmaatschappij NMBS\/SNCB is op zoek naar een nieuwe exploitant voor het voormalige Plopsa-terrein bij het Centraal Station van Antwerpen. Plopsa Station staat sinds januari van dit jaar leeg, nadat exploitant Studio 100 het park vanwege een gebrek aan bezoekers had gesloten.<\/p>\n

De NMBS\/SNCB start nu een marktconsultatie voor het terrein, dat zich uitstrekt over bijna 6.000 vierkante meter, verdeeld over verschillende verdiepingen.<\/p>\n

Ongebruikte Thalys-terminal<\/strong><\/p>\n

De ruimte aan de achterzijde van het stationsgebouw \u2013 een ongebruikte Thalys-terminal \u2013 bood jarenlang onderdak aan Comic Station Antwerp, een overdekt pretpark met bekende Belgische stripfiguren, dat in 2017 zijn deuren opende.<\/p>\n

Na de overname door Studio 100, dat 6 miljoen euro in het park investeerde, werd het park in 2021 omgevormd tot Plopsa Station Antwerp. Het sloot eind 2023 zijn deuren nadat exploitant Plopsa de concessie had be\u00ebindigd vanwege tegenvallende resultaten.<\/p>\n

Staat open voor alles<\/h4>\n

Volgens de NMBS\/SNCB volgt deze marktconsultatie op een eerdere verkennende fase waarin idee\u00ebn voor een nieuwe bestemming van het terrein werden verzameld. Ge\u00efnteresseerde kandidaten kunnen nu een gedetailleerd voorstel indienen, inclusief een businessplan, ontwerpplannen en een visie op de exploitatie van het terrein.<\/p>\n

De NMBS\/SNCB legt geen vooraf vastgesteld concept op. Ondernemers en organisaties zijn vrij om hun eigen voorstellen te ontwikkelen waarin de ligging van het station als nationaal en internationaal vervoersknooppunt optimaal wordt benut.<\/p>\n

De spoorwegmaatschappij is op zoek naar een concept dat op verschillende momenten van de dag bezoekers aantrekt en rekening houdt met het unieke karakter van de locatie. Aanvragen kunnen tot en met 7 oktober worden ingediend. De concessie kan op zijn vroegst op 1 januari 2027 ingaan.<\/p>\n
