BMW gaat vanaf 2027 de \u2018Neue Klasse\u2019-modellen i3 en iX3 produceren in zijn fabriek in San Luis Potos\u00ed in Mexico. Tegelijkertijd bouwt het bedrijf op die locatie een speciale assemblagefabriek voor zijn hoogspanningsaccu\u2019s van de zesde generatie. In totaal investeert de autofabrikant 800 miljoen euro in de uitbreiding van de fabriek.<\/p>\n

BMW begint vanaf volgend jaar in Mexico met de assemblage van de elektrische i3 en iX3, evenals met de productie van de hoogspanningsaccu\u2019s voor beide modellen. De uitbreiding van de BMW-fabriek in San Luis Potos\u00ed verloopt volgens planning.<\/p>\n

De i3 en iX3 worden ook in Mexico geproduceerd<\/h4>\n

BMW maakte in 2023 voor het eerst bekend dat het vanaf 2027 in Mexico elektrische auto\u2019s uit de Neue Klasse zou gaan produceren, maar had toen nog niet bevestigd welke modellen daar precies zouden worden gebouwd.<\/p>\n

In een verklaring ter gelegenheid van de tiende verjaardag van de eerste steenlegging voor zijn fabriek in San Luis Potos\u00ed heeft de autofabrikant nu bevestigd dat de i3 en de iX3 deel zullen uitmaken van het productaanbod.<\/p>\n

De BMW Group is begonnen met de uitbreiding van de fabriek met meer dan 110.000 vierkante meter, waardoor in 2027 kan worden begonnen met de productie van de twee op de Neue Klasse gebaseerde elektrische modellen.<\/p>\n

Het project omvat de bouw van een nieuw assemblagecentrum voor hoogspanningsaccu\u2019s, dat goed is voor meer dan 500 miljoen euro van de totale investering van 800 miljoen euro. De faciliteit zal een oppervlakte van meer dan 80.000 vierkante meter beslaan en zal accupakketten van de zesde generatie assembleren.<\/p>\n

Naast Debrecen in Hongarije, M\u00fcnchen in Duitsland en Shenyang in China is de fabriek in San Luis Potos\u00ed een van de vier productielocaties van de BMW Group wereldwijd die zijn geselecteerd voor de productie van voertuigen uit de Neue Klasse. Het is tevens een van de vijf locaties wereldwijd die zijn aangewezen voor de assemblage van de zesde generatie hoogspanningsaccu\u2019s van het bedrijf.<\/p>\n

iX3 LWB komt op de markt in China<\/h4>\n

Ondertussen zal de nieuwe BMW iX3, met een langere wielbasis en speciaal ontworpen voor de Chinese markt, naar verwachting tijdens de Chengdu Auto Show in China in voorverkoop gaan, waarna de offici\u00eble leveringen in het vierde kwartaal van dit jaar van start gaan.<\/p>\n

Het Chinese Ministerie van Industrie en Informatietechnologie (MIIT) heeft officieel de specificaties inzake energieverbruik voor de nieuwe BMW iX3 LWB bekendgemaakt. Het voertuig heeft een volledig elektrisch bereik van 919 km volgens de CLTC-norm, bij een energieverbruik van 13,6 kWh\/100 km.<\/p>\n

De iX3 LWB wordt ter plaatse geassembleerd door de joint venture tussen BMW en Brilliance in Noord-China, met een 103 mm verlengde carrosserie en onderdelen van lokale leveranciers. De wielbasis van de Chinese variant van de iX3 bedraagt 3.005 mm.<\/p>\n

Het is gebruikelijk dat BMW (en andere Europese fabrikanten) in China verlengde versies van hun modellen op de markt brengen. BMW-Brilliance produceert momenteel de X5 L, de 3 L, de 5-serie L en andere verlengde modellen, omdat grote auto\u2019s erg in trek zijn bij de lokale kopers.<\/p>\n

In 2025 verkocht BMW in China ongeveer 625.500 exemplaren van BMW- en Mini-modellen. Dit komt neer op een daling van 12,5% ten opzichte van het voorgaande jaar, waardoor de verkoop terugviel naar het niveau van 2018.<\/p>\n
