Op de Chauss\u00e9e de Malines\/Mechelsesteenweg, tussen het kruispunt Quatre-Bras\/Vierarmen en de Avenue des Foug\u00e8res\/Varenslaan in Wezembeek-Oppem, zijn de werkzaamheden voor de aanleg van een nieuw fietspad van start gegaan.<\/p>\n

Het fietspad zal het kruispunt Quatre-Bras\/Vierarmen op de Ring verbinden met de E40. Het traject loopt grotendeels langs de Brusselse Ring tussen Tervuren en Zaventem.<\/p>\n

Op die manier wil de Vlaamse regering de fietssnelwegen Brussel-Leuven (F203), Brussel-Wezembeek-Oppem (FWOB) en Brussel-Tervuren met elkaar verbinden.<\/p>\n

In 2 fasen<\/h4>\n

Vanwege de bouwwerkzaamheden is de Chauss\u00e9e de Malines\/Mechelsesteenweg tot half oktober afgesloten voor het verkeer in de richting van de Ring. Volgens de gemeente Wezembeek-Oppem blijft het kruispunt Quatre-Bras\/Vierarmen echter bereikbaar en zijn er geen gevolgen voor de snelweg.<\/p>\n

In een tweede fase zullen de bouwwerkzaamheden zich langs de Ring voortzetten, eerst in Wezembeek-Oppem en daarna in de richting van Zaventem.<\/p>\n

3 extra fietsbruggen<\/h4>\n

Naast de aanleg van het verkeersgescheiden fietspad worden er ook drie nieuwe fietsbruggen gebouwd. E\u00e9n brug komt over de Avenue de Wezembeek\/Wezembeeklaan, een tweede over de Avenue Oscar De Burbure\/Oscar De Barburelaan en een derde over de Rue Alphonse Lenaerts\/Alphonse Lenaertsstraat.<\/p>\n

Dit is niet het eerste fietsproject op deze locatie. In november 2024 werd op datzelfde kruispunt een opvallende houten fiets- en voetgangersbrug van 67,5 meter, ontworpen door Ney & Partners, geopend als onderdeel van de F29-fietssnelweg tussen Brussel, Tervuren en Leuven.<\/p>\n
