BMW is in zijn historische fabriek in M\u00fcnchen begonnen met de serieproductie van de nieuwe elektrische i3 en omschrijft de lancering als een snelle opschaling als gevolg van de sterke vraag.<\/p>\n

De elektrische sportsedan is het tweede productiemodel van de Neue Klasse na de iX3 en het eerste dat in Duitsland wordt gebouwd. De leveringen aan klanten in Europa gaan dit najaar van start.<\/p>\n

De aankondiging klinkt als een bevestiging van een verkoophit, maar BMW houdt het belangrijkste cijfer nog steeds voor zich. Het bedrijf heeft niet bekendgemaakt hoeveel i3\u2019s er daadwerkelijk zijn besteld in Europa of Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n

De inschrijving is op 18 juni van start gegaan<\/h4>\n

Deze bewering is gebaseerd op het besluit om de orderboeken op 18 juni te openen \u2013 enkele maanden eerder dan oorspronkelijk gepland \u2013 en op de snellere opschaling van de productie die momenteel in M\u00fcnchen plaatsvindt.<\/p>\n

Jochen Goller, hoofd verkoop bij BMW, zei kort na de onthulling in maart dat de reacties op de i3 nog positiever waren dan die op de toch al succesvolle iX3.<\/p>\n

In juli herhaalde BMW dat er kort na de start van de voorverkoop \u201cgrote vraag\u201d naar de i3 was. Wat de iX3 betreft, is het bedrijf daarentegen veel preciezer geweest: het aantal binnenkomende bestellingen voor dit model nadert de 100.000 en eind juli was het aantal geproduceerde exemplaren al de 50.000 gepasseerd.<\/p>\n

De timing is gunstig. De afleveringen van de BMW Group in Europa stegen in de eerste helft van 2026 met 5,4%, terwijl het aantal afleveringen van volledig elektrische auto\u2019s in Europa in het tweede kwartaal met 38% omhoogschoot tot 81.445 voertuigen.<\/p>\n

De iX3 leverde de grootste bijdrage aan de Neue Klasse, aangezien de leveringen van de i3 nog niet waren begonnen. Toch blijkt uit de cijfers dat BMW de sedan op een groeiende thuismarkt introduceert, in plaats van te verwachten dat het model de dalende verkoopcijfers in Europa kan omkeren.<\/p>\n

Dat maakt de resultaten bemoedigend, maar nog niet doorslaggevend. Door de bestellingen vroegtijdig open te stellen, kan BMW blijken van interesse omzetten in ondertekende contracten en krijgt de fabriek een duidelijker beeld van de gewenste kleuren, uitrusting en marktsamenstelling.<\/p>\n

Dat betekent niet automatisch dat de i3 het orderboek van de iX3, dat uit vijf cijfers bestaat, heeft ge\u00ebvenaard. De SUV concurreert bovendien in een groter en sneller groeiend segment wat betreft carrosserievorm.<\/p>\n

Prijs in Belgi\u00eb vanaf \u20ac 64.000<\/h4>\n

In Belgi\u00eb is de i3 momenteel te bestellen als een rijk uitgeruste 50 xDrive First Edition vanaf \u20ac 73.435, inclusief btw. De standaard i3 50 xDrive zal vanaf \u20ac 64.000 verkrijgbaar zijn wanneer de uitgebreidere configurator in het najaar beschikbaar komt.<\/p>\n

De introductieversie combineert twee motoren met vierwielaandrijving, levert 345 kW (469 pk) en heeft een voorlopig WLTP-bereik van 758 tot 906 kilometer. BMW geeft nu een bereik van maximaal 912 kilometer op voor de meest effici\u00ebnte configuratie.<\/p>\n

Dankzij de 800-volt elektrische architectuur is gelijkstroomladen mogelijk met een vermogen tot 400 kW. BMW stelt dat onder ideale omstandigheden tien minuten laden bij een voldoende krachtige laadpaal meer dan 400 kilometer WLTP-actieradius kan opleveren.<\/p>\n

De First Edition is bovendien uitgerust met een 22 kW-wisselstroomlaadfunctie, het M Sport-pakket, Panoramic Vision, een 3D-head-updisplay en een verbeterd Harman Kardon-audiosysteem.<\/p>\n

Belgi\u00eb kan op zijn minst \u00e9\u00e9n concreet teken van zakelijke belangstelling laten zien. Logistiekconcern Katoen Natie heeft meer dan 1.000 elektrische BMW- en MINI-voertuigen besteld, die tegen eind 2027 moeten worden geleverd. Dit is de grootste afzonderlijke overeenkomst voor elektrische bedrijfsvoertuigen die Belgi\u00eb ooit met \u00e9\u00e9n fabrikant heeft gesloten.<\/p>\n

Het zal in eerste instantie vooral gaan om modellen van de BMW iX1 en de MINI Countryman, maar volgens BMW omvat het contract ook auto\u2019s uit de Neue Klasse, zoals de iX3 en de i3. Voor geen van beide modellen is een apart aantal genoemd, dus de deal kan niet worden gepresenteerd als 1.000 Belgische bestellingen voor de i3.<\/p>\n

Een kostbare gok op de elektrische 3-serie<\/h4>\n

BMW heeft ongeveer 650 miljoen euro ge\u00efnvesteerd in de verbouwing van zijn 104 jaar oude fabriek in M\u00fcnchen. Tijdens de vier jaar durende verbouwing bleef de fabriek tot wel 1.000 auto\u2019s per dag produceren.<\/p>\n

Tegelijkertijd werden op ongeveer een derde van het terrein een nieuwe carrosseriewerkplaats, een assemblagehal en logistieke faciliteiten gebouwd. BMW stelt dat de nieuwe architectuur, automatisering en gedigitaliseerde processen van de i3 de productiekosten met nog eens 10% zullen verlagen.<\/p>\n

Vanaf 2027 zal M\u00fcnchen uitsluitend elektrische auto\u2019s bouwen; er is al bevestigd dat de i3 Touring de sedan zal opvolgen. De i3 is bedoeld om de huidige i4 Gran Coup\u00e9 te vervangen als BMW\u2019s belangrijkste elektrische model in het topsegment, hoewel de naam i4 naar verwachting niet zal verdwijnen.<\/p>\n
