CEO Wolfgang Ufer vertelde aan Newmobility.news<\/a> dat het in eerste instantie in China zou worden gebouwd, maar dat er zeker ook over Europese productie zal worden gesproken. Uit de documenten blijken nu de eerste definitieve technische specificaties.<\/p>\nDe tweezits elektrische stadsauto is opgenomen in de nieuwste catalogus van het Chinese Ministerie van Industrie en Informatietechnologie (MIIT), een verplichte stap voordat een nieuw voertuig in China op de markt mag worden gebracht.<\/p>\n
Vlakbij de oude elektrische Fortwo<\/h4>\n Uit de aanvraag blijkt dat Zhejiang Haoqing Automobile Manufacturing, een dochteronderneming van Geely, de auto gaat bouwen. Ook worden de afmetingen, het gewicht, het motorvermogen, het type batterij en de leveranciers bekendgemaakt \u2013 gegevens die Smart zelf tot nu toe geheim had gehouden.<\/p>\n
Het model #2 zal, afhankelijk van de uiterlijke configuratie, 2,751 of 2,764 meter lang zijn. Het is 1,669 meter breed en 1,555 meter hoog, met een wielbasis van 1,875 meter. Het leeggewicht bedraagt 1.130 kg.<\/p>\n
Daardoor lijkt de nieuwkomer opvallend veel op de oude elektrische Fortwo die hij vervangt. De vorige Smart EQ Fortwo was 2,695 meter lang, 1,663 meter breed en 1,555 meter hoog, met een wielbasis van 1,873 meter.<\/p>\n
Met andere woorden: de nieuwe auto is slechts ongeveer 6 centimeter langer en 6 millimeter breder, terwijl de wielbasis met slechts 2 millimeter is toegenomen.<\/p>\n
Kleiner dan het concept<\/h4>\n Opvallend is dat de productieversie ook iets korter is dan Smart had gesuggereerd. De Concept #2, die in april in Peking werd gepresenteerd, was 2,792 meter lang.<\/p>\n
Smart omschreef het destijds als een gedetailleerde voorproef van zijn nieuwe, speciaal ontworpen stadsauto, met de wielen naar de hoeken verschoven en een draaicirkel van slechts 6,95 meter.<\/p>\n
De twee afmetingen die in de Chinese documenten worden vermeld, lijken te verwijzen naar verschillende uitvoeringen van de bumper of de sierlijsten, hoewel de wielbasis hetzelfde blijft. Uit de documenten blijken verschillende alternatieve grille-uitvoeringen, velgen en details aan de buitenkant, evenals daken in zwart of in de carrosseriekleur.<\/p>\n
Onder de motorkap is de #2 uitgerust met een 60 kW-elektromotor van InfiMotion, een dochteronderneming van Geely, die de achterwielen aandrijft. Dat komt neer op ongeveer 82 pk, wat opvallend genoeg precies hetzelfde maximale vermogen is als dat van de vorige EQ Fortwo. De topsnelheid stijgt van 130 naar 140 km\/u.<\/p>\n
Smart lijkt dus de verleiding te hebben weerstaan om van zijn kleinste model weer een prestatiegerichte elektrische auto te maken. De grootste sprong voorwaarts zit hem juist in de accu.<\/p>\n
Twee keer zoveel batterijcapaciteit<\/h4>\n Uit de MIIT-aanvraag blijkt dat er gebruik wordt gemaakt van lithium-ijzerfosfaat (LFP)-batterijchemie, waarbij de cellen worden geleverd door CATL en het complete batterijpakket wordt geassembleerd door Energee, een dochteronderneming van Geely. Er worden geen gegevens vermeld over de capaciteit of de verwachte actieradius.<\/p>\n
Smart heeft in juni zelf bekendgemaakt dat de nieuwe Electric Compact Architecture, die speciaal voor de #2 is ontwikkeld, is ontworpen rond een accu van 35,7 kWh.<\/p>\n
Het bedrijf streeft naar een WLTP-actieradius van ongeveer 300 kilometer en een DC-oplaadtijd van 10 tot 80 procent in minder dan 20 minuten, hoewel deze cijfers nog niet zijn goedgekeurd.<\/p>\n
Die beoogde accucapaciteit is ongeveer het dubbele van de bruto-accucapaciteit van 17,6 kWh van de uitlopende EQ Fortwo, die volgens de WLTP-norm een actieradius van slechts 131 km had. De nieuwe #2 zou daardoor buiten de stadscentra veel bruikbaarder moeten zijn, zonder dat hij daardoor aanzienlijk groter wordt.<\/p>\nVolgens Smart is het interieur van de Concept #2 voorzien van een doorlopende zitbank en een S-vormig dashboard om de ruimte in de ultracompacte tweezitscabine optimaal te benutten \/Smart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nHet speciaal ontwikkelde ECA-platform behoudt bovendien een draaicirkel van 6,95 meter en maakt gebruik van Smarts nieuwe generatie van de Tridion-veiligheidscel. Smart presenteerde het interieurconcept in juni in Rome, met een doorlopende zitbank voorin en een S-vormig dashboard dat is ontworpen om de binnenruimte binnen de compacte afmetingen optimaal te benutten.<\/p>\n
Eerst China, daarna Europa?<\/h4>\n De Chinese aanvraag sluit ook precies aan bij wat Wolfgang Ufer, CEO van Smart Europe, eind juni tegen Newmobility.news zei. \u201cWe beginnen met wereldwijde productie vanuit China,\u201d zei hij, waarbij hij benadrukte dat Europa de belangrijkste markt voor de auto is.<\/p>\nWolfgang Ufer is een Mercedes-veteraan. Zijn belangrijkste taak als CEO van Smart is om de verkoop op kruissnelheid te brengen \/Smart<\/figcaption><\/figure>\nUfer liet ook de mogelijkheid open om dichter bij Europese klanten te gaan produceren, mocht de afzet dat rechtvaardigen. \u201cAls we succes boeken en het volume opvoeren, zullen we zeker praten over productie in Europa.\u201d<\/p>\n
De extra invoerheffingen van de EU op in China geproduceerde elektrische auto\u2019s zijn al meegenomen in de berekeningen van Smart. Ufer zei dat het bedrijf streeft naar een Europese vanafprijs van minder dan 22.500 euro.<\/p>\n
Er zijn momenteel geen aanwijzingen dat Europa een fundamenteel andere #2 zal krijgen. Naar verwachting zullen de basiscarrosserie, het ECA-platform met achterwielaandrijving en de accu-architectuur hetzelfde blijven. De specificaties die in een Chinese typegoedkeuringsaanvraag worden vermeld, komen echter niet automatisch overeen met de definitieve Europese configuratie.<\/p>\n
De Europese versies zullen moeten voldoen aan de EU-voorschriften op het gebied van veiligheid en rijhulpsystemen, terwijl de laadapparatuur, software, verlichting en uitrustingspakketten kunnen verschillen.<\/p>\n
Smart voert ook nog steeds wereldwijde preproductietests uit, waaronder de laatste afwerkingen aan het chassis, de besturing, de ophanging, de banden, de afstelling en de veiligheid.<\/p>\n
De laatste leemtes zouden binnenkort moeten worden opgevuld. Smart zal de productieversie van de #2 in oktober officieel onthullen op de Autosalon van Parijs, in de aanloop naar de lancering op de Europese markt.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
